:headscratch: Why? One or the other on non-commercial conventionally lubed cast bullets. Only time I lube with tumble lube is when I purchased commercial lubed bullets. That was when I was working and didn't have time to cast my own................... before 2008.

^^^^^^ Yep, same reason they flaunt "hard cast", the bullets get less dinged up in shipping and the garbage lube stays on the bullets. Neither is for the benefit of the end user.

I always tumble lube with a modified alox solution after lube-sizing. I started doing this, because that's what Ben does.

Whenever I'm about to shoot lubed bullets from a cleaned barrel, I precondition the barrel with a patch with my tumble lube. This seems to keep the first shot in the group.

I solved that issue by not cleaning my barrels...................if not broke, don't fix it!

Simple lube that just works .
Darrs My version.
1#. 14oz. Vaseline
1#. 18 oz Gulf or common canning paraffin wax .
2 tblsp 3 tblsp STP oil treatment.
Warm to clear ,about 95°F , stir to blend , cool .

It's soft enough to thumb in but works fine in a lube sizer too . I've run it up to 2600 fps , 50 kpsi , 22-.458 cal .

I, as well.

I TL'd commercial cast when I didn't have time to cast - had more money than time.

Now, I have neither.

I don't use the old Lyman 45 much anymore at all, and have found TL to be amazingly effective to 1800+fps with air-cooled wheel weights, so it's a no-brainer for me to TL almost everything I use. If I DID TL conventionally-lubed bullets, it would only be because I TL'd them after casting to prevent oxidation until I figured out how I was going to use them.
