Well,
I had to break my "going no where for the holiday & holiday weekend" when I discovered my Jeep was near out of gas and The Hamm's Supply had dwindled! So Got out early this morning and Filled the Jeep @ $4.09 per gallon for the lowest grade fuel and ventured forth via back roads to get to my Beerman and put in a new supply of Hamm's for the upcoming week!

Then made my wife lunch as well as myself and then the son calls because he has no idea how to "spackle" his future daughter's bedroom!
Wife made me go next door and help him..... Now I can spackle but I hate it ! Especially doing a ceiling.

Well I guess I finally accepted that I soon will be a Grandfather for a little girl! and accepted the non wedlock union of my son and his special lady!
I'm just very old fashion.
Before my wife and I decided to have a baby, when we got married, It was 7 years....By that time we both established good steady jobs & bought our own home ....then and only then did we think of having a child! I guess times are changing. I guess the bonds of matrimony scare the begeesus out of the younger generations. That is not an experiment that I'm ok with but I guess I better get used to it or drive myself nutz.

This one wasn’t too bad Keith- about $400. Does what I need. Can print ABS if needed but I prefer to avoid the odor. With PLA there is no smell at all.

I could make these from Al but the material cost would be far higher and my effort would increase astronomically. I prefer to let the electrons do the heavy lifting.

I've worked on casting projects with an artist friend. Brass and aluminum castings made in a lost wax/investment type process. I've always thought that using a 3D printer to print the pattern would be the easy way to go. Especially since you can scale up the output by whatever shrinkage factor your material will give you.

I have no plans for tomorrow. I can't really travel to the two family places I usually travel to, on a holiday and have told those family members I won't be there. While, no one said they'd stop by, I have a sneaking suspicion I'll have some visitors tomorrow or Friday.

I was feeling down in the dumps yesterday, But today, after another good visit to the chiropractor (#10), my spirits have lifted. If I spend the weekend alone, at this point, I am OK with that.

Went and got influenza vaccinations before it got really nice out again. Then we hand washed and sort of waxed Sue's new Escape. Then I dragged out the hovercraft. Pulled the dip sticks and saw nice clean oil on both engines. I had put the Battery Tender Plus on earlier and the pusher engine fired right up. The lift engine would not start. I shut off the pusher engine so I could hear and what I did not hear was the electric fuel pump ticking for the lift engine. If I turned the key just a tad farther the pump would run and indeed when it did, the lift engine started. I fiddled with the lift engine ignition switch for awhile and now it works every time.

The oil looked so good I was tempted to leave it as I did not use the HC last Winter. But in the end I did change oil in both engines and I am glad I did. The oil did not look as good in the drain pan as it did on the dip sticks. Brand new Mobil 1 full synthetic 5W-30 in both and a new WIX filter in the pusher. The lift engine had fuel and carbon contamination and the pusher engine showed moisture in the oil.

So it we get a serious cold snap the HC is ready for the ice. Next I need to put the fabric back on the portable shanties, a one, and a two person. I will probably put new line on a bunch of rods right away also. I was a total slacker as far as ice fishing last Winter and I wish to correct that. I am much happier if I can get at least 30 trips out.

Boy the days certainly are shorter, and the warmest part of the afternoon starts to cool off by 3 pm. The thermal reverses about then and a gentle waft of warm air descends down the big hill east of the house. That west facing slope gets warmed by the sun all afternoon. The pleasant down draft only lasted about 15 minutes, then the lower yard gets shaded by the hills to the west, well before sunset and the chill goes right into your bones.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Keep the faith Jon!

Congratulations Jim. I'm with you on the whole "If you are committed to her enough to have a kid, then you can married" thing! But times change I suppose. I still think the concept of marriage is a pretty solid idea, so we'll be old fashioned together!

Spent the day scraping mud/manure out from where some pens will end up. Hacking, coughing and spitting enough so I pulled something in my belly too! I'm a wreck, but I can breath better. Had a double pneumonia 25+ years back and I can tell when the old lungs are getting nasty. The Mucinex is pretty powerful stuff!

The girls went shopping. Started out in Potsdam but ended up in "Methena" (Massena) NY. I was advised there were a lot of stores up there yet, not in the mall of course, that's as dead as Kodak film kiosks in your local shopping plaza. But they filled the car, so there must be something up there. Our Thanksgiving will be Friday as our grandaughter can't be here tomorrow. Another reason to dislike her bum father!

Ordered some felt boot liners from a Mukluk company up in Ely Mn. I think someone here directed me to them, thanks! Also have some JB Fields Minus 50 wool socks enroute. Supposed to be the warmest, thickest wool sock around, made in Canukistan. Cold feet can ruin any day!

Keith,
Thank You! I'm feeling better about it now!
Jim
I understand your feelings. I have a relative who is in a long term committed relationship, years and years already, with a daughter, a house, both work for the same agency. But I fear for the ramifications if there is an untimely death.

Another person, a good friend's daughter, was in a long term unwed relationship, very deeply committed. They have two boys and were planning on finally getting married and in 2019 set a date. Then Covid hit and their plans got scuttled. No big deal right? They planned on waiting out Covid restrictions and then tying the knot, only the young man had a sudden fatal premature heart attack while playing in the water with his boys on Summer vacation in 2020. Just tragic. There are serious financial ramifications for the remaining partner.

I've a strong feeling that Jim's granddaughter will quickly steal his heart.

A week or so ago I posted that the young neighbor couple (don't know their marital status) have a new baby. It's a boy. His parents are free to name him what they want, but Phineas? Finn for short. Phineas T. Bluster comes instantly to mind.

we went over to the 'chicken store' [tractor supply] to get some chicken food it all goes on sale 25% off Friday.
i got two 5$ off coupons for that store so we should be able to get 2 bags for about 12 bucks.
they also have some Columbia boots there.
normally 100 bucks, so 75$,,, that's cheaper than i paid for a pair back in the late 90's which held up for about 15 years and was the most comfortable boots i've ever had... YAAAA!

That's terrible.

Can't get it declared a common law marriage?
Did they ever file taxes as a married couple?

All depends on the state laws. In NY, if you are not married, you have no status when it comes to death and inheritances. You could live together and own property together for 80 years. You are not recognized as a couple and it the other one croaks without a will, their stuff is going to the closest blood relative. Live in girlfriends don't count.

I drove down to Wichita and sprung Dad from the old folks home long enough to go see this movie, Devotion, that I've been waiting for. I went in with low expectations and was very pleasantly surprised. It didn't get bogged down in the discrimination thing like I expected, no profanity, nudity or graphic violence, just good, solid acting and movie making. I do dislike the CGI thing, but compared to many movies nowadays, this one used it relatively sparingly and it was well done.

If anybody is looking for something to do tomorrow and it is playing near you, go see it, well worth the price of admission.

Nice. Your next assignment is to get the printer to put the caliber designation on each stand as they are printed.
I have a label maker for that.
If I had the right software, and skills, it would be pretty easy to print it on them.

At least with a label maker you can change the marking pretty easily, not so much if they're hard marked.
