Nice shooting! I've always wanted to have something rebored to 35-30-30.A good friend had a Stevens 44-1/2 shot out 32-40 rebored by JES to 35-30-30.
40yds with a rcbs 200 grn tang sights.
Let’s make it 9 rifles.
Very nice looking gun, and wow at those holes. Not just the placement, but the size. That's wicked cool, thanks for sharing.I had JES rebore a 45-70 Handi to 50-70.
Shot it today.
4x Burris mini.
465 LBT LFN
50 yds
Kicks good at only 6-3/4 lbs
JES Reboring
We are next going to send a 43 Spanish to get redone to 50-90.
Recoil would be a lot easier with a softer pad than the factory one on it.A year or two ago, I bought a target rifle built on a military Martini action chambered in 7-30 Waters which I think is going to becoome a .38-55 at some point. Good to know JES does such good work.
NEF made those in .500 S&W, I was always intrigued by the idea, but I bet recoil is fierce.
Really think about why you want a 50/90 rather than a 50/70. The 450 grain 50/70 bullet with black powder will shoot side to side through a buffalo. Plus you can use smokeless to get another 200 f/s if you think you need it.A 50-90 is a fine 100 yd hunter. Any critter is going to get the hurt added to walking about.
Jes may only have a 50-70 reamer so we will start there. But I know where there is a 50-90 reamer sleeping peacefully.
