Set another post and brace with anchoring cement in solid rock. Tied off and stretched another run of game fence, quit early to take wifey out for supper, she's been patient with me working dawn to dusk both days for the last few weekends.
Finally got the big storm they been promising for 2 weeks . Just enough to prove lotta folks don't have a clue how to drive in a straight line and not run into stuff .
10 below and windy. Yuck! On the other hand, I was looking for my hammer stapler to tack up some tarps (they won't take a 9/16" staple which I think is absolutely stupid!) and I found that Porter Cable 1/2" hammer drill that has been missing for months. No clue how it got in with the staplers and screen window repair stuff, but at least I found it.
Willys has a flat from a bad valve stem. points are shot in my Old Reliable Ford 800 tractor and the F350 won't start at all. Typical winter day.
that better not be a picture of snow...
nope not snow, it isn't coming through.
I knew it was too nice last night, we got another 2-3 inches this morning.
the bank is closed, the P.O. is closed, the schools are closed, everybody else is at work, most inconvenient 'observed day' ever.
Very true; however, some are more traditional and Observable than others. Why aren't Holidays that the Federal Govt. decrees not observed on a Saturday or a Sunday?
To my way of thinking, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Independence Day, and Memorial Day (Veterans'Day) are days to celebrate or observe, and are real holidays. Those that are named in honor of any dead person, a particular political movement, etc., are made up holidays and merely excuses for paid days off, and in more modern times three-day weekends.
Well, one might imagine that a Sunday holiday (well, the Super Bowl might as well be a national holiday) would offend members of a particular religion, and Saturdays would possibly offend another religious group.
Traditional usually means "we've been doing it a really long time and we don't why but we like having the day off" in many cases.
Everything is Ice! 5 iches of slush turned solid ice! With 3 inches of snow on top!
Temps were below zero this morning an finally got up to + 6 now ! Wind chills in the -30 deg area all day!
The weather sucks: wednesday.... freezing rain the plain rain in the 30's Everything is going to be incased in ice!
Would have rathered the 30" plus inches of snow they predicted!
Not much but a nap today, last cataract surgery. Can't bend over, lift anything but I see much better. Gotta find an alignment shop - her left front is into the wear bar, other side is fine. Dang pot holes.
I've got cataracts, also. Dr. says it's not bad enough for surgery yet. How bad does it have to get?
I look at a light at night and the halo around the light is four times the size of the light!
I've had cataract surgery in both eyes, It's a life saver without doubt. The downside for me is shooting, distance is fairly good but can't see my hand in front of my face. Reading glasses work well but can't see even arms length wearing them. I played around with various prescription lenses for a few years trying to find a happy medium where I could see sights and target. No joy. If I wear a lens that takes away from the target enough to see the sights the target is gone completely. Without a lens to see the sites target looks decent but it's site alignment via brail. Never found a lens combination that wasn't one or the other, sights or target, pick ONE. Sure takes the fun out of shooting when your not trying to do well, your just trying to see something.
I solved a few of my shooting difficulties with a fixed bifocal. Optometrist is a friend and allowed me to bring in a pistol without a cylinder. We set the line where I can focus on the front sight and tilt my head slightly and the line is focused on the target.
Had both eyes done, really brightened things up, it got bad enough I couldn't see at night, couldn't drive after sundown, had to read the newspaper with a lighted magnifier. Surgery went perfect, no troubles at all. Can see at a far distance with out glasses now so I can take them off to watch TV or a movie, my bifocals are for near and mid-far distances. I recommend it when it is time.
No problems with cataracts yet. Floaters in my left eye. I started wearing blended tri-focals in my mid 50s. Don't need them for the computer monitor or TV screen, but do for reading, machining, shooting and as of about 2 years ago, driving.
