now that's stuff I can be cool with.

damn women.
I swear they figure out you have stuff planned for the day,, and then spend a good hour figuring out how to get you to go do something they want to do.
wouldn't e so bad but they gotta include about 18 dozen other things to do before hand and take 3 hours to get their stuff together to go do what they need done.

looks like I'm going to the ACE tomorrow to get the stuff I need to replace the nipple in the sprinkler.
guess i'll get the stuff to add in another head while I'm there.

It befuddles me how it is that weeds of any type grow so profusely in sandy soil that was once seabed, but flowers, bushes, etc. don't.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.

Survival of the fittest. Why will a tree seedling take root in a crack in a rock where there isn't any real soil beneath it and grow to the point it cracks the rock, but the roses you plant in the perfect spot in the best soil die at the first chance? One is built to do it's job naturally, the other man has screwed around with for hundreds of years and "improved" to the point it can on'y survive in a narrow zone of perfection. Befuddled no more! ;)

Got the grill out of the shed for the first barbequed meal of the year. Nice strip steaks! Of course it was pouring rain as I dashed in and out checking the meat. Thank goodness for a grill with a hood!

Went back to Wally World and picked up what we missed the day before. I got my cheapy sneakers to wear around the yard. I've always worn a size 10 or maybe even a 9 1/2 if the shoe ran large or wide. Came out of the store with a size 12! On the way home I stopped at a local feed store to get a pair of barn boots, the mid shin height, rubber type of uninsulated boot farmers live in, a "Wellie" if we were in Britain. Came out with an 11 there. I also tried on some Dry Shod boots and found I was back in a 10! Huh. Cheap Wally World $14 sneakers made cheaply in China. Not so cheap Tingley boots, also made overseas. Insanely expensive (although not as bad as Muck brand) boots made to much higher standards. I think I see the pattern here. My feet haven't grown much after all.

Raining cats and dogs here. Supposed to do inside work I think. Another front tire flat , shredded, in the big tractor from my son helping the neighbor. Helping people is getting expensive.

9 1/2 EEE in Red wings USA , takes an H in the outsource boots , took a 10 1/2 in Wally world sneakers to get them wide enough last time . My 10 yr old 9 1/2 EE Danner thinsulate and naked Irish Setters fit fine . I think half the image of getting fat is clothes being cut or labled small . There's more of me than a few years ago but an 18-36 long taylored dress shirt still fits like a circus tent and I haven't buttoned the top button on less than a 17 1/2 34 long since 1982 . That fit like the big top then . I don't dress up much so it's not a big deal , although my daughter's wedding tux made me look like John Candy . Maybe I'm just getting fat .

As I have gotten older, I've come to appreciate older movies, especially some of the Bible movies. I watched Barabbas [1961] last night, Anthony Quinn really delivers the story.

Bret,
Never thought of the weeds versus plants relationship as survival of the fittest. Maybe we need to look for wild roses. Or just grow weeds.

Not far from our weeds is a famous tree that sprang from rocks.

I learned to love weeds. I now think of them a natural ground cover. They keep the wind from slowing dirt around and keep water from eroding the soil.;)

Badmitten at the museum? Up for a 8am G.K.'s soccor game (tie 3-3), Cleaning a bunch of 30/30 cases for FTX loads. She just told me I need to trim the bushes in front. Already on the LONG list. She's making food for brunch in the morning. Yum. Egg sausage casserole, sour cream cinnamon twists (family recipe). Not going to lose weight this week.

Gonna need one huge racquet with those shuttlecocks. About 18 ft tall or so. :)
And they have hidden speakers so the security folks with cameras on them can tell
the idiots to not climb on them. The feather shafts are 5" aluminum tubes, for
reference. The fletching and ribbon are molded fiberglass, the bumper formed
and welded aluminum.

Happy Easter to everyone.
We had a Happy "Spring" celebration at the park behind our house this morning with a "Spring Egg Hunt".
I think they are taking this Political Correctness too far.
I just can't wrap my head around a rapper dj at a "Happy Spring Celebration".

Basically a rerun of Thanksgiving here . Too much food , too many people , not enough Jim , Jonny or Jack to get Southernly Comfortable during the depth charging , boiler making or just running the screwdrivers with Margarita ........ Not even a Lone Star to make Bud wiser ........ Maybe if I kill some cans early .....

Cleaned the grates on the smoker tonight. I hate that job as it is greasy and messy as hell.
I tried a new cleaner, something recommended on a few smoking websites. Got some all purpose cleaner from Dollar Tree. After tax it cost me a buck seven. Worth a shot I figured.
Holy cow did that stuff cut the grease. Sprayed it on, let them sit for a half hour then soap and water.
I was shocked that a cleaner that cheap was effective at all. I used a half bottle but at that price I can afford it.

Some of the generics are actually name-brand product in a different bottle. Sometimes you can read the fine print and see who made it.

I tensioned, tied off, and clipped 300 feet of fence today and worked some more on back filling the retaining wall. Now modistalling a receiver hitch on my new ride while grilling some Nilgai steaks for supper. If I quit moving it's all gonna catch up with me, so I ain't stopping until I'm fed and through the shower.

Yea, got told to step back from the statue in the back. Try those copper baking sheets on the grill, grease just drips off, no cleaning she loves them.

you know citric acid is a natural degreaser.[takes off engine grease too, chicken grease will get engine grease off your hands]

what I do is put the grates out back at 8am and go get them at 10am.
the clean fairy comes by and gets them sparkling clean.
a trip through the dishwasher and they are good to go again.

I'm beat.
everyone took off for the Easter egg hunt at the little town where we used to live this morning.
I stayed home and got a bunch of stuff done before they got back.
the south side of the house is finally starting to come around, after yesterdays fiasco I got the plants in the box and filled them in with nice red mulch [I went and got from the feed store] to match the rest of the front yard.
stripped the broke down mulch and droppings from the cedar tree, got the new sprinkler line cut in and pulled over [after fixing yesterdays broken nipple] and everything back filled properly.
got some stuff transplanted into bigger pots, some cold weather stuff planted, and some garlic put out in the bed with the others.
I passed on planting the berry bushes and the one big flower when I seen the big black clouds coming and caught a wind/hail alert on the radio as I passed through the garage.
still have two other projects to do over there.

one is re-doing the window trim and re-painting the side of the house after tearing it up to change them out,,, which is what started the whole porch and new flower bed thing in the first place last year.

My wife is out of town. After church tomorrow, I'll shop for a small steak and do it on
the grill. Got asparagus from the garden coming in, so that too, cornbread, and I may
bake a pie or a cake.
Did some shooting today, not much special, did some duplicate tests of loads that had worked
well in the .44 Spl 2nd Model Hand Ejector. I think the 7.5 gr load with the 240 Cramer RN is
about the leader, although have had a couple of spectacular groups with 4.8 gr TG under the
same bullet. I may have to run a primer test, ten rds of each brand primer with 4.8 TG. More pleasant
than the 7.5 Unique for everyday shooting, but the Unique load is defenitely the working load.
I'd tackle a pig with that one and the Keith 240 without batting an eye. But the light would have
to be good with those sights and my old eyes. Probably would be smarter to use a red dot on
Mtn Gun with 10 gr Unique and 250 Keith, mostly for the red dot in dim light.

Ian, sounds like your welder is working well, letting you really get some fence put in. Is it
powering your drill, too?
