I had a semi Dwarf Harrelson Apple Tree for many yeas however when I planted it was close to my property line which was a nice understudy... unfortunately as time grew on the wood line became larger, Shading the tree and roots encroached upon it. It was too large to move so it finally succumbed to the encroachment! When it produced apples They were great!
Today I only have wood wedges and smoking wood from it as a remembrance!

Well tonight was our annual get together for a Lenten meal of Potato pancakes! Hosted by my Niece!
She promised my late brother ( her father ) That she would continue the tradition when he pasted!
My 2 living sister-in-laws, my wife Karen and I are all that is left of the original family. We are all getting old and shared stories about aging and some old family stories and stories about the grand kids and for them great grand kids! This time Karen and I were not left out because our new grand daughter!
All in all we had a great time and I ate too many "Fried" potato pancakes! But it is only once a year so I can deal with it!
A glass of red wine and a Good serving of Psyllium fiber...should get those nasties thru my system while I sleep!

Wishing it was Monday so I would at least be getting a consultation from a dentist.
Dang crap tooth. Another chunk broke off and now it's hurting again.
Thinking after 6 months of this would not bother me anymore.
Well hopefully this dentist will decide to pull it for me. Hopefully it will not get infected again so it can be yanked.
I am on blood thinners now. So last fellow decided he did not want to mess with me, as this developed between making the appointment and getting there. He retired before I could reschedule.
Not too many dentists around here, that will pull teeth. They want to do fillings, braces and coatings. Other then that, they want to send you straight to an oral surgeon. Who must do a referral and a consultation before they touch you.
If my regular dentist would just have listened to me, and pulled it a year ago when it became sensitive. Well..crap in one hand as they say.

Besides that.. doing pretty good right now. Got the meds for my wife. :) My son has applied for an after hours tutoring program for history at the local high school. On his own!!!
Got me a blood pressure monitor to try and get the pulse rate and blood pressure regulated a bit better. Before I start a exercise routine this spring. Put me on a water pill. That cut the blood pressure and pulse rate.
So 170 over 95, pulse91. Way better then before. Real good numbers for me. So maybe I can start walking again to take some of this weight off. :)
Life is looking up.

Just think of all the sap a guy could get from a Monster like that...I didn't see any rot.
I bet you could put a dozen taps in that tree
I don't think it's the same type of maple we have on the west coast, but I used to have an offset smoker that I loved to use maple in for cooking chicken. Very slight maple syrup flavor in the chicken.

Rough day here.

Dr visit for wife was struggle. She can no longer walk. She can not step up to allow me to load her into jeep. I got her in but tweaked my back doing so. We have waited three months I wasn't gonna miss this appointment.
Got a diagnosis. I was as prepared as I could. I dont think she understands. It is a rapidly progressive palsy. Terminal with in ten years. As in no one has lasted ten yrs from diagnosis ten years.

Then I had therapy which always leaves me ache sore & tired. Got her to bed and settled. Watched tv with her till she dozed off.

Im just settling down, but somehow I am not sleepy tonight.
Tell those people you love, that you love them. We aint here forever.

Prayers sent.

The mechanic called and said none of his suppliers have an "approved" converter, but he is not giving up the search.

Waiting for the AAA convertor theft person to call and make an appointment for picture taking of the missing cat, VIN, etc.

A cousin of my wife, and his wife, store their motorhome at the same facility. My wife called the wife, to give them a heads up, and she said their convertor was stolen during the December break-in. The cousin checked and their replaced convertor is still in place.

If I understand this entire process correctly: The American, Russian, and Mexican mafias steal the converters, ship them to China where they are dismantled, the rare Earth elements are then used to re-manufacture new converters which are then sold to the American car manufactures and parts suppliers. If I wait long enough it's certainly possible I can buy my converter back. All that, and the perpetual whiners and hand-wringers still complain that the air isn't too clean enough for their liking.
So a potential place to put a stop to this isn't by taking a baseball bat to the legs of the guy with the battery powered Saws-All, but by imprisoning the buyers of the illegal converters, or by torpedoing the ships hauling them to China.

I offer my consulting services free of charge to solve these minor issues. I do have to say though, it I ever see anyone under my truck, they better mind their legs. I heard noises coming from the neighbor's deer camp last evening, and they have not been up since December. In my role as the Neighborhood Watch Officiant, staff of one, I snuck up on the place with a axe handle, only to find one of the owners had come up for the weekend. He liked the axe handle idea.

Never met a dentist that wouldn't pull a tooth, unless it had gotten so bad/cracked that an oral surgeon was required.
We have no oral surgeons in the area. Plenty of dentists, though. None will do root canals. They send you to Springfield Missouri, a 2.5 hour drive away.

I had to have one done, a few years ago. It ate up most of the daylight hours. No advance consultation needed, here or back in Michigan.

What a walleye:

Local woman posted this on Norfork's Lake lover FB page. Fishing out of Bull Shoals Lake.....the twin of our Norfork Lake. Hence, the Twin Lakes Area. Bull Shoals Lake is known for its walleye and bass fishing, while Norfork, for its Striper fishing. Both lakes have the same species, just different population density.

I’m wanting to have my walleye mounted. I prefer taxidermy over fiberglass (but am open to either-just prefer taxidermy). Looking for recommendations. Thanks in advance!

In California it is illegal for junk yards, recyclers, etc. to accept converters, but laws do not stop outlaws and the lawless, and the various ethnic mafias thrive on the fruits of lawmakers. It wasn't long ago that a ring based in Los Banos was busted. Supposedly there is a big one operating out of Oakland -- a port, no less.

Well finally going up the road to meet with Dave to see if we can make the trade my pistol for Dave’s Savage 23D. I haven’t seen this rifle for 4 or 5 years, but my memory is it’s like new condition.
We will see. I’m hoping we can make the trade. Going to see if my memory is worth a darn. If we make the trade I’ll post pictures

Hoping my tooth has not gone too far too get pulled. Just that these young fellows that are taking over their dad's practice around here are afraid of blood, maybe????
Dentist I am going to is my age and specializes in pulling teeth.
But if it has gotten too bad. I will have to start the referral train, all over again, looking for an oral surgeon.
Between my insurance company, and my kid dentist. With referrals, this has gone on way too long.
I think the insurance company has spent three times the money for going to consultations, and paperwork. Then if my dentist had just pulled it.Maybe that is the plan???
Well blood thinners may just complicate things even more now. So guess I will have to wait and see till Monday.

Well on to a different subject. Think that one has had more then enough miles on it.

Wind has been outrageous here.
My little meter on the side of the house was reading 52 mph.
Weather called for 27 mph winds with 40+ mph gusts.
My tarp on the side of the barn was ripping to shreds when I pulled out to work. Going to be nice tomorrow.
Guess I will just let it tear up. Maybe it will blow away and save me the trouble. Make plans on spending Sunday hanging a couple sheets of T-111.
I am up by 4 trash cans, since I am at the end of the lot. They picked up trash on time for the first time in months. In the middle of a wind storm?
Saw one poor woman on the way to work. Having her kids sit on the porch roof while she was finding heavy stuff to throw on it.
I almost got thrown off the road twice.
Made it to work and the electric is out. A piece of the building is pealing off.
Mother nature is just having a major hissy here.
So I am going on damage control as a fire watch for maintenance. As they batten down a few hatches, so to speak.

It's only taken three-years time, but I now have my long awaited .45 Colt single-action, a Uberti/Cimarron Cattleman with a 4 3/4" barrel. Used the Swede to subsidize the purchase, though at a small loss, but it's gone and I have a gun that's taken 20-years to replace the .45 Colt Blackhawk that was use to subsidize the purchase of the 3" Lew Horton/S&W Model 24.

The gun was more than liberally covered with machining and preservative oil, and took two cleaning sessions to remove it all. The pre-cleaning trigger pull was 3 1/2 pounds, but after cleaning it was reduced to a very, very nice 2 1/2 pounds. I have a Wolff spring kit on order that might reduce it a bit more. The medallion is Cimarron's logo of a cowboy and his horse at speed.

The range's schedule and mine are not in sync, so I won't be able to shoot it till next Friday.

Went to ranch, help a bit making rum. Burned a pile of branches, got the R.D. sighted in, helped daughter set up sprayer to treat some oak pallets, then off to set them for bases of bee boxes. Watched the Texas BB game. Didn't get any fishing done - well always next time. Took an extra hr to get through traffic on I635 in town. Wore out now.

I had one done, 3 appts for consultation and figuring out what to do. Just because it didn't happen to you or me doesn't mean it's unusual.

The last tooth I had to have cut out, my Dr. Put me on a "bridge" that was shots in the stomach for 5 day before the surgery.
Replaces the blood thinner somehow but doesn't cause excessive bleeding during the surgery.
Shots for 5 days were $10.
Brad would know about this.

Brad,
Sounds right, but it was two years ago.
Pharmacist gave me five, prefilled syringes with whomping big needles to be injected under the skin in my stomach.
Mitty38,
You might speak to your Dr. About something like this. It might make your dentist more comfortable about oral surgery.
Nothing worse than a tooth ache!
