gloomy rainy-smiley-emoticon.gifStarted to sprinkle, when I took Bella out for her morning ritual, at 5:30 AM. Suppose to continue till late afternoon. :( High in the mid 40's. Currently, 40 degrees. Temperatures rising though the night. Tomorrow's high is expected to be in the mid 70's.

Break tomorrow, from the rain, but more on the way for Thursday & Friday. Springfield News said we can get up to three inches, by the time it's over. Tis the season.

Tuesday's rain amounted to 9/10 " in the gauge. Thunder shook us up from a deep sleep at 4AM, this morning Supposed to rain most of the day with severe storms, possible this afternoon. Chance of damaging winds, large hail and a isolated tornado. Another 1-2" of rain accumulation, expected. :(

Well, at least I have some reloading to do in the shop.

We got 1/2" though the night, with another 2" since daylight. Brunt of the storm isn't over by a long shot. Severest weather is forecasted between noon and 5PM. Then slightly less severe till 9-10PM. gloomy rainy-smiley-emoticon.gif

Broke our rainfall total record, in the 10+ years I've been here. Received 5" in the gauge, in less than 24 hours.

Photo was taken at 4PM CST. Went to dump the gauge, since it tops out at 5 inches. We still had a couple hours left till the storm passed. Around 6:15PM the rain stopped , not before we accumulated another 1/2 inch.

I’ve only experienced one small tornado, I was very young and lived in Minnesota at the time. From my young memory is simply going into the basement with Mom. I’m sure it was a small marginal tornado. But it’s a wind event I will always remember.
But while running vessels in and around Prince William Sound got caught in wind and sea events from time to time. Weather and sea condition reporting was marginal at best in the early days.
There was about 5 times were we were caught out in winds 60 to 70 Knots. Most times find a good anchorage till the event past.
Wind is frightening. Combine it with sea conditions and you better be prepared.
