My new .45 Cal Rice Barrel, and a new personal best Shoot with OPEN/PEEP Sight Muzzleloader. I fell in love with my 1-24 Twist .50 Cal Rice Barrel, And of course my 1:20 Twist Rice as well. In short, My Rice Barrels are my TOP DOGS I ended up ordering a .45 Cal in 1:17 Twist to go with them, A dedicated “Long Ranger“ The Barrel Showed up Friday Morning, I installed a Lee Shaver adjustable front sight, And fitted the Barrel in the same TC Hawken Stock that the 1:24 Twist .50 Cal Rice Rests in. I group shot it Saturday Morning with 2 of Favorite Long Range .45 Cal Bullets, Both BACO Ellipticals (Paper Patch, and Grease Groove) Both bullets Shot AWESOME, about 3/4 to 1” at 100 Yards. I loaded up Monday morning and headed for 1,200 Yards

The Video

After getting everything setup the Fog Rolled in and had me at a “Stand Stil“ I waited for nearly 2 Hours, it finally lifted and turned out to be a really nice Day

The Bullet i chose for this outing was my BACO (Buffalo Arms Co.) .453 Elliptical, Lubed with my “Modified“ Bullshop’s NASA Lube

Barrel stil in the White, Has a total of 8 Shots fired through it at this Point (From Sighting in at 100 Yards Saturday Morning) It’s 9th Shot was at 1,200 Yards

After the Shoot i came home and Cleaned the Barrel Good, Removed the Front Sight, Under Rib & Thimbles For Engraving & Hot Blueing, I just now got back with it from Engraving, Pictures aren’t the Best here and do it NO Justice, Engraving turned out AMAZING The Barrel goes for Hot Blueing in the Morning

With it‘s 1:17 Twist This is a TRUE “HOTROD Hawken“ I decided to Name it “Eleanor” for the Shelby GT500 from the Movie “Gone in 60 Seconds”

And lastly, Here are the 2 Bullets from Both Shots in the Video above, The bullet on the left is the Shot that hit Left, it was Damaged badly on the underside from a Rock, and the Bullet on the Right is the one that Hit the Steel Plate, If anyone thinks that these BIG Lead Bullets have NOTHING left on them at 1,200 Yards? You better Re-think that BIG Lead continues to be BAD @SS Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay Out there, Smashed Flat as a Razor, That is the Bullet Base you see, even the Sprue Cut

Thank you, This is a deep Passion of mine, Something I thoroughly enjoy :) I swear by Bullshop’s NASA in Muzzleloaders, It is thicker than i like the way it comes from Dan, I thin it down to my Liking with SHPU and Peanut Oil

Once I tried NASA for my black powder cartridge rifles I gave up on all of my home made concoctions that gave me so much satisfaction to make and mediocre results on the target.

SHPU, shouldn't the acronym or abbreviation be HSPU for Harp Seal Pup Unguent?

SHPU= Stihl HP Ultra Synthetic 2 Stroke engine oil. When incorporated in my Lubes I get ZERO Leading in my Muzzleloaders.

Watched a couple of your videos on you tube. Simply amazing. And Eleanor is a beauty. Have fun. Frank

Thank you, I put a LOT of time & effort in this Stuff, I enjoy every minute of it. This particular Shoot means a Lot to me, From my beginning in Muzzleloading I have always been fascinated with Dave Gullo’s “Ripley’s Believe it or not” Long Shot on “Homer the White Buffalo“ Down in Raton New Mexico years ago, Dave hits a Black Balloon Type thing on “Homer” That target is 1,123 Yards

This 1,200 Yard Shoot of mine at least Equalled that, I feel Bested it. Dave was using a Blackpowder Cartridge Gun, I am using a TC Hawken Muzzleloader that i Put together. The White Buffalo Target is 6 Foot By 10 Foot, My White Target Backing is only 3 Ft by 4 Ft, My Gong is 20“ inches By 20“ Inches, 1/2” Thick AR500 Steel Plate, it weighs 60 Pounds

This is Dave Gullo‘s Old “Ripley’s Believe it or not” Long Shot on “Homer the White Buffalo” Dave is a Friend of mine, Owner of Buffalo Arms Co (Dave is a 2,or 3 Time World Champion) He is using a Blackpowder Cartridge Gun here (An Old .45-100 Borchardt)

Put into that context your accomplishment is even more amazing! I've never shot black past 800 yards and always in a cartridge rifle.

VERY good!
I'll bet even Ned Roberts would approve.

I can't tell from your pictures (and the audio on this laptop is toast so your YouTube didn't help me) but are you using the TC Hawken lock & trigger?

Yep, The lock & Trigger are Stock TC, In fact this Stock is from a Kit Gun. I bought the Complete TC Hawken Rifle (.54 Cal) from a Friend that had bought it as a Kit Rifle and Put it together MANY years ago, The Stock 1:48 Twist .54 Cal Barrel shoots really well

IIRC somebody did that shot with 30/30 also. Reading the wind was a problem.

They were doing this, and a WHOLE LOT more with Blackpowder in the 1800s, They had a 2,000 Yard Competition Shoot in 1865-1866

This is an Interesting read on it.
