i know i still have to build the 1898 springfield armory in 22 hornet, but what scope mounts do you use? i've "googled" (duck duck go
:D
) either s&k scope mounts(http://scopemounts.com/index.html?instapics.html) or kraghaus(https://kraghaus.com/). i have looked at some discontinued scope mounts(http://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=6524), but they are rare. the kraghaus seems good, but i'm not sure of scout scope's magnification(it should be around 6x but i'll take a variable). anyway, can i use s&k, kraghaus or some other?

I got nuthin.
but I have had some mil-surp scope mounts that were good and rock solid, and others that sucked.
you couldn't tell by looking at them since they looked exactly the same in pictures and in hand.
but you definitely would not want to mix A and B up when putting it back on the rifle.

maybe a case of tolerance stacking? dunno.
all I know is one worked and one didn't.

The last scoped Krag I had used a Weaver side mount with the side mount ring set up. I’m pretty sure they still make this. The scope is slightly offset but worked well. The receiver needs to be drilled and tapped for this, but it looks like you’re going to
do a lot of modification to get to .22 Hornet. The last Krag receiver I drilled and tapped had a very hard crust and a carbide drill was very helpful getting through the case hardening. I look forward to watching this project.

i've decided to make a single shot out of her. most of the modifications are gone when doing a ss. there's still some mods on the bolt.

i too am watching, but first i got a 93 mauser that needs my attention.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
Why not go old school and use an externally adjusted scope on barrel blocks? That would be very 1930's and very, very cool!
