There are guys today, with high power scopes, newest sexy cartridges, bedded chassis, laser range finders and with ballistic computers on their rifles, who still struggling at 300yds…Go out and shoot! Your gadgets can’t compensate for your lack of basic skills…

Interesting. A crudely installed shotgun recoil pad, and probably a Lyman 48 long slide rear? I'm guessing a C stock cut down?

Morris Fisher, USMC, with Model 1903 Heavy Barrel Match rifle. Barrel (either Winchester, Stevens or Pope) is much heavier than standard, stock was made for him, as he was tall and skinny. Rear sight is Lyman 48 and front is a modified BAR.

Well then gentlemen, I think Ben is trying to tell us that we have some work do. Some us, myself included, more so than others.

Give me a rifle with all the listed amenities and I'll guarantee a new shooter will hit a 1,000 yd target and give a first group about as good as the pictured one, let alone a 300 yd target.

I know the post is tongue in cheek, but I bet Mr. Fisher could cut his group by 75% or more with today's equipment on his first try.

Go out and shoot with all the modern equipment at 600 yds, learn from what the computer tells you and within 300 rounds you'll have a better understanding of what's happening ballistically than if you're just lobbing rounds blind.
