30 XCB naked lube vs. PC & lube

First 2 pics are the same. I tried BLL over PC on some slick sided cast. The BLL never got hard like usual- 2 weeks before shooting. Didn't shoot very many and they were fine but I still suspect lube is softening the PC. Then you get a PC buildup in the bore. It could also be simple lube purge down range.

when your cleaning the barrel look for a tight/dirty hardish to clean spot about 3-4"s down the barrel.

Ten twist at 2600+ from a 20" .308 and single-digit SD and bitches about 2 MOA.

Ok, I get it, you had some spray patterns too. Either you got the pc nasties lumping up in front of the chamber or you got the barrel too hot.....or both. Do you have Veral's book? If you do, read the part he wrote about barrel heat really carefully.

if you ask my opinion you got the 414 bight.
I dunno what it is about that powder and 748.
it seems like a good warm like day and the world sings in sync, the precip goes up 3% or a cloud blows over and well nope not today.

I know there is a 100yd tiny little group node at 39.6grs in one 308 using the I type of 4064.
pleasant to shoot too.
dunno what the velocity is but a titch more in that rifle would take out the 1/2" of vertical and put it almost on the horizontal so would be a good place to stop.
probably around 40. sumthin 1-2? would be it's absolute sweet spot in the milsurp cases I'm using.

what's weird is that's precariously close to the same load of I-3031 I'm using under some jacketed bullets in another 308.
I think there is a happy no matter what powder speed right there at the 4064 rl-15 CFE-223 powder area where you can almost do no wrong.
you gotta go up in case size to move back to the next powder step for happy dancing.

Slightly different but same case.....

My 7-08 sings with a *130g and starting JB load of Varget.

I'm not gonna get too wound up about cleaning frequency because every rig.... and every shooter, needs to figure this one out for themselves. But, "knowing"..... what the rig likes,or behavior..... coming off a deadnuts clean barrel is an easier to establish metric than letting fouling reach not only an equilibrium but also, how far it can go without cleaning. And just like "hunting" does NOT automatically mean deer whacking, although it seems that way on the intertube........ "cleaning",shouldn't be any preset level. I dry mop ALOT..... mainly because of boogers resting in the bttm of barrel. Sure,no boogers-no problems.... but it isn't an absolute. If the load is accurate enough..... I'd do just about anything as a maintenance "cleaning". Just easier for me staying closer to "bare steel".... than built up fouling. YMMV.

*130g is in the "wheelhouse" wrt weights for the chambering. So consider that when adjusting for the 308. And, I never found the "max" with the Varget/130 Lee combo. Probably could get close to another 100fps out of it? Hit a sweet node at start #'s and then went looking for game?

Going to sound crazy but I would run a couple of full power jacked through and try pc again. In my experience it made jacketed rounds a lot more accurate plus pced rounds settled down after shooting a couple of jacked.
