Yessir, 800-X was a PITA to use in both of my RCBS measures.

The 32 H&R Magnum is a GREAT caliber, but its SAAMI specs were limited due to the H&R revolvers it was initially chambered in. With a more robust S&W or Ruger platform, its potential can be exploited fully.

The 327 Federal (as best I can tell) is largely a "completion" of a concept enabling defensive shooters to have a 32 caliber handgun with sufficient power to be a reliable stopper on armed assailants, at the same time producing less recoil than the other capable calibers in that venue. Similar calibers have played that role in the past; 30 Mauser, 7.62 x 25 Tokarev, and 30 Luger come to mind here. All of these charge a tariff in muzzle blast for that power privilege, and it is up to the user/owner to gauge whether that volume is justified.

Though I did have some work on one homicide in which a 32 H&R Mag was the suspect weapon (a fired Hornady 85 grain JHP was found at the crime scene, we assume it was contained in the victim's shirt after transiting one of the five hits he sustained and fell free when the paramedics loaded him up for hospital transport, where he expired. Being a drug dealer is a tough career field, and its rigor multiplies when you don't pay your supplier--just sayin'). I don't consider any of my 30/32 handguns to be defensive weapons, they are toys to play with at the range or tools to use in the field for small game and varmints. The RCBS 32-98-SWC at 900 FPS is plenty of power for my needs, and doesn't drill my eardrums or set off earthquakes in fault zones.

it's rnfp cousin will penetrate a 150lb. deer from one side to the other through the lungs at 70 or so yds. even running about 800 fps. at the muzzle.
yeah,, I was surprised too.

Small frontal area projectile and not much resistance in the lungs - but still impressive from a handgun round of that type.

Izzat the 32/20? Not surprising at all, these 30/32 caliber bullets at 1100+ FPS are a bee-otch to stop in soft body armor. The arrival on these shores of the 7.62 x 25 in large numbers in the 1990s had a lot to do with body armor upgrades at that time. That old Threat Level II stuff did not contain the FMJ from the C-96 or the TT-30/33.

I've been some surprised by the penetration of lot's of lead bullets going slow speeds.
the 358477 going about 7-750fps peneterating a cows skull and 18"s of neck muscle.
the 200gr. rnfp in the 44-40 punching through old juniper trees at 750 fps. or so.
the rcbs 7mm silh bullet punching right through 18-20" pine trees 100yds away at about 1600 fps.

I have a 135g WFN 32 bullet for my 327. It was designed for use in the S7 Rugers and I can make it to some impressive velocities. With Blue dot powder.
