Well a little time today as wife still asleep.
Has anyone here done a Rhineland Mauser conversion?
Was thinking about one but have only heard bad about them!
Worth the money?

This is one thing that I kick my self for...

When I worked in a sporting shop. One of the guy wanted to bring these in for us to sell. He found them in the Shotgun News IIRC. THE OWNER didnt agree and said no. The guy was adamant and the other supervisor and I agreed to allow him to bring them in and sell on consignment. IIRC they was 69$ and worked to convert a Mauser to 45 acp using a 1911 magazine.

I NEVER BOUGHT ONE... We did sell about a dozen or so and he made the money the shop could have if the owner was more open minded. His short sited ness is part of why/how that shop went out of business.

I did one sort of .....
I got the kit for a SR Mauser because I couldn't buy a barrel for the price of the kit . I wanted something someplace between a moderate 454 and 45-70 and the 460 S&W fit so it became a 45 Raptor .

The barrel and head space set up was easy enough to do the last thread on mine got really tight , there is a provision for that on the site . I didn't use the drill guide or magazine filler for mine either .

The barrel and nut come in about a 320 satin finish in the white but otherwise fully basic finished . The GI profile fit the Boyd's stock for the standard 95 Mauser profile . You'll need the complete 1911 magazine release assy if I recall correctly .
It's still a pretty good deal even if all you use is the barrel .

I did one on a Yugo Mauser. They don't feed worth a hoot but mine is very accurate and quiet shooting, about like a .22. I modified the extractor so it would jump over the rim when i chambered a round by hand. The .45 barrel is contoured like the original so you can use the sights. I parkerized mine and it came out nice. If i had a mauser now i would think about converting it to 358 Winchester instead.
