A little leather .....

So I run with this bunch of ruffians on a mostly BP pistol forum that was started due to moderator conflicts and some .......... Well basically the reasons most of us are here . Their a rude ,vulger , sarcastic lot and not really for everyone .

Anyway they have a cool thing they do the first of every month that is an honor system drawing thing . Ya say I'm in get a number then they draw numbers with a random number generator ..... Seems pretty honest so far , it's been running about 5 yr . From time to time someone puts up a second or third prize .

This April fool's I won the 2nd 2nd place custom made holster for the drawing which worked out because I had a naked 58' Remington that needed a place to hang out .
Not my work , not from a commercial maker , and 100% one of a hand made kind although they are from kit holsters .

I think they're pretty cool pieces and probably not something I would do or buy for myself .
Home to a brass 58' Army 44cal and an iron 58' 36 cal .
The brass revolver is typical of these , although the 44 seems to have been bored 44 then rifled to .440 . It .426×.440 with .448 chambers .
With full chambers of ownself screened sweet gum charcoal BP it shoots 890 fps with a .454 RB and delivers groups of 2-3" at 25 and can be held to a salad plate at 50 pretty regular even when it's been shot a lot in a single day . 108 shots at a meet one day as a personal best .
777 @30 gr will clock in at 960 fps .

I never clocked the 36 , in fact I've only shot it a half dozen times . .373 chambered and .365 groove , .375 RB . I recently acquired a Lyman mould that drops a conical and a round ball each pour .
As for business , I don't want to be on the wrong end of it . The 36 will dent 1/4" crs at 25 yd with a chamber scraped flush full of ownself screened powder and puts 6 into 3" if I keep my act together .

Sarcasm ain't really my cup of tea, sticking with vulgar and rudness?Sounds like a great bunch.Have made 1/2 dz holsters over the years. Those to me,have just the right amt of nostalgia, which comes from your bud's talent. And cool idea on the number drawing. Thanks for posting,BW

Stitching and edging on the one on the right is pretty good. While I've only done a little bit of harness repair; Dad was a saddle maker and was good enough to work for Edward H. Bohlin of back in about 1950
