Unless you have some type of virus protection software on your computer that prevents downloads I see no reason it will not comedown when you click the link???
Are you sure you are not loosing it on you system when it comes down?

I guess I don't really care if I can get into it or not. All I was curious about was approximately what would 4 lbs of lead pipe and 1lb of linotype equal. I thought it was a simple question and that someone that was able to get into the site could provide me with an estimated answer..

Mixed AlloyTin %Antimony %Arsenic %Copper %Silver %Lead %WeightEst. Hardness
0.80%2.40%0.00%0.00%0.00%96.8%5.011.0

This is from the alloy calculator. Input 1 pound of linotype (assuming it's fresh and not depleted) and 4 pounds of pure (assuming the lead pipe is pure, and you're not getting tin from a joint). So unless you're getting your starting materials assayed, it's still just a guess!

Hope this helps!

The calculator is actually an Excel spreadsheet. If you do not have Excel on your computer, even if you downloaded it, it won't work.

The actual file name that downloaded to my computer is

Lead Alloy Calculator Updated. pure lead and range scrap

Yes, OpenOffice is now LibreOffice. Not a power user but everything I've needed an office suite program to do it does. Opens files of numerous types, allows you to save files in various formats. If it works in MS Office it works in LibreOffice. It's freeware, and there is even a version that works in Raspberry Pi Unix. We got RPi computers all over the shop and they all have LibreOffice on them.

Must have software on any PC.

Just updated mine from 7.2 something to 7.4.5.1. There is a button on the right side of the menu bar that says update. It took me to a site where I downloaded a brand new version and installed it. Had to reboot the machine when finished but it only took a few minutes and seems to work perfectly. I am using WIN10 with a fast connection and a solid state hard drive, your times may vary.

Here is link: https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download-libreoffice/

There were about 6-7 choices on which version to download based on processor and OS type, incuding Windows, MacOS and Debian Linux, the X86 equivalent OS of the Raspberry Pi OS which uses a different type of processor.

I'm always suspicious of freeware, especially when it comes from outside the USA. This stuff is from Asia. My guess would be China. I'd rather pay Bill Gates than have China looking over my shoulder.

Where did you get your info? Everything I've seen, read, or heard says its an international collaborative project with advisors and contributors from all over the world. I've used it and its predecessor for years.

Well, that is interesting. When I clicked on the link in your previous post, it took me to an Office Freeware site. It talked all about how it will work with any Office products and allows you to save files to a universal file format. I want to say that it called itself ApacheOffice. I'm used to people using old names or sub-product names for the parent company name so I paid no attention to that. Done in the corner it said it was part of a company called XXXAsia. I don't remember what the XXX was. After your reply above, I went back in so I could do a screenprint to show you what I had seen. Only this time, the link actually took me to LibreOffice and was an entirely different site.

My guess is they have a way of redirecting links to their Apache website. How 'bout dat!!??

So, I went into my browser history and found the site. Here is a link to what popped up the first time I clicked on your link.

Buyer beware, huh?

Apache was I believe the predecessor to OpenOffice and then LibreOffice. Apparently they've continued development of it as an alternate Office freeware program. Haven't tried it so don't know much about it. Apache also has website software, my intranet website on our Raspberry Pi's is an Apache product.

Who knows what software you can trust? If someone is spying on me they're probably bored enough to shoot themselves by now.

I don't trust Gates! Windows is the most easy system to infect and the best part is you never own the operating system on you windows computer!

Apache was a freeware browser, used it for years. Has a free license for users, i.e., nobody can get paid for it. Most of these are open source software that are maintained worldwide. Source code is available. But depending on where you download from, nasties might be added. That is where good malware package can find the nasties.
