Ok guys, about to inherit an 8 pounder of AS.
Will be used in handguns exclusively.
Looks like a fast GreenDot?

Suggestions?

it's right between red and green-dot.
you get a half and half recoil sensation from it in a shot gun load [yes I can feel the difference] but it works good.
give it a run in your 45 acp.

In 45 ACP I can start with my Red Dot load and go from there.
8 pounds load a hell of a lot of 45 ACP

I’m looking at 4.8 gr.

I don’t think I will need powder for decades

I may do that. Look in the rifle section at what came home today.
This weekend another Good one come home.

You can directly use Green Dot Numbers for loading .....It is hat close! Think it is cleaner burning however!
It is my go to powder for accurate low node shooting in rifles! Yes Ben is the one that turned me on to it and I have been happy since!

1) good to know AS is good for 45 ACP

2) "you get a half and half recoil sensation from it in a shot gun load" - Fiver - PLEASE explain! Never heard of such a thing!

well.
the recoil impulse to red dot is a short fast bump to the shoulder.
green dot has a softer longer push to it.
A.S. has a feeling like a slower jar to it that isn't as sharp as red dot but longer.

same payload, same velocity.

just as a qualifier.
I shoot and have shot thousands of shot shells a year since I was 8-9 years old.
I'm maybe down to an average of 5-6 thousand a year now [with some years up to around 10-K or so]
but for several years it was very close to, or even over, 30-K a year.

I didn't even have a bolt type rifle for probably 15 years. [other than a varmint rig I never put a scope on until I started shooting cast bullets in it]
what I pretty much had was 1-2 lever guns, and a couple of handguns that seemed to cycle in and out from time to time.
if I wanted to go deer/Elk hunting I just borrowed one of dad's milsurps, or took one of the lever rifles.

I picked up 2 8#ers of AS in the last 6 months to be used in my trap guns (old Browning Broadway and a Perazzi TM-1) and for light .41 and .44 mag target loads. As I read it is supposed to be a single based powder, unlike the dots.

I don't know why it come out, but it come out back when they first made red-dot 'new and cleaner burning'.

speculation on my part but I think they were intending to work on cleaning up the manufacturing side of things and re-formulate the two dot's but ended up with something not quite right that fell in between the two instead of on top of one of them.
that or they were trying to replace P.B. for some odd reason.

I shoot a low recoiling 7/8 oz skeet load, 45 acp, 38 special, light 357 and it burns pretty clean.
I bet someone has a 9mm recipe.

thanks
Francis

I love This Powder! Yes if you can't get data look at Green Dot! Very clean and accurate! Especially for "Low Node" Rifle shooting
