Love to get a 340 Action for 30WCF and get a heavy & long BR type barrel threaded to fit it!
& I will build a stock to fit it! I'm pretty sure that this would be less expensive then my negotiations with Savage Custom Shop Based on the 110 action. I'm quite happy with my 30 30 340 as it is now so I'm not too worried about that style action on a new barrel ....but I would not take my accurate shooting girl appart! Would get another to play with

I have no idea.... on barrel maker or thread pitch. No marks found on the barrel and I didnt check the pitch. :)

It has been suggested that I just relieve one side of the barrel.
So install, mark /make relief cut and re install. As opposed to putting the barrel in a lathe...

The threads are 7/8" and finer then 14. (A die thread)

I found some better cheaters and need another bit to reach optimal head space AND one side of my extractor is broken. So unsure if this "pulls" from one side or both. I was assuming one side as drawings crudely suggest.
Now I need to find a 22 Hornet ejector.

Since 1983 I have been building custom flintlock long guns! I like a man who has faith in hand filing! ( when he knows how to do it) That is the way I have done 98% of all my gunwork! Not to mention (with my drill press) having done all of my faux lathe turning over the years.
The most noted sound from an 18th Century gunshop was hearing the master filing!

MORE PROGRESS TODAY!!! :p :p :p :);)

I swapped the new extractor I bought month or so ago.
I continued my head space adjustments. (Filing) Head space is at or very close to "zero"

and.... I am VERY HAPPY TO ADD EJECTION IS NORMAL!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!

Now on to the stock and the feeding!

I need to fit a "blank" bolt. Then with plenty of release again Ill mix up some aluminum devcon and "plug" the magazine hole.

Then most work, re cutting stock for recoil plate. This stock is made for a different action but fits this Savage pretty well. Its blind and the Ruger American Trigger guard fits it proper!!
This is shaping up nicely!!!

This is a neat project, CW and I appreciate that you've shared the fun. Great too that Roxanne watches over you as you pull your project together.

A couple pics make me wonder if that bare patch on the left side of the receiver isn't part of some previous work filling in scope base screw holes. I may not be seeing it right, but I can almost make out three spots in a row which are slightly different in surface appearances than the rest of the receiver. If I'm wrong, I need to get my eyes checked. If I'm right, someone did a nice job of it.

It's been a long time since I handled one of these, so I don't know if what I think I might see is even in the correct position radially on the receiver. Twenty-some years ago, I sourced a new 222 magazine and a scope mount for a friend with a 340 and my dad D/T'd the receiver for it. I only handled it enough to admire my dad's work and return the piece to my friend, who went on to wipe out many woodchucks on his dad's farm thereafter.

I’m waiting for a very similar mould from Arsenal, only I went for the «micro band» version. 4-cav, PB, .310. It’ll probably be a few more weeks, they are pretty busy these days.

I need to make some vice blocks. Mine dont fit. Id like to hold the receiver at the front ring and turn the barrel....
Do anyone thing it makes a difference? (I usually see done clamping bbl and turning receiver.)

Then test fire.
