anyone?

so I had the bright idea of seating some gas checks and then powder coating the whole shebang.
now I'm wondering if I need to size the bullets to squish the checks in place so they don't fall off, or if the P/C is enough to keep them there.

I read somewhere that PC'n after the GC and then sizing was the way to go. I've done it both ways without a problem.

yeah.. I'm tryin to save a step and trying to get around buying a size die at the same time.
figured if I could press a check on, coat, load and shoot it might be worth pursuing.
if not and I need to size I'm just gonna be wasting hours of time unnecessarily.

How snug are the checks? Will they stay on during tumbling?

Last ones I did I put on the check and ran them through a Lee sizer and that firmly seated the check. ALL stayed on while tumbling. Following heat curing the PC I again sized.

If the checks stay on during the tumble without sizing in place, the only issue is having a crumbled mess of lead and paint where the check bites into the shank after sizing. Loose stuff in the grooves has caused me bore fouling before, so I always pre-size the checked bullets and rinse in paint thinner before coating.

yeah they pressed on and tumbled with 0 losses.
they also don't stick out the 'sides' it's almost like I sized them on as far as total diameter.
