Well I didn’t think it was going to be this much when I started! Crock pot worked very well, but a very full crock pot is what I ended up with!!! LOL
3 lbs. of beeswax
2-14 oz tube of red & tacky
8.12 oz johnson paste wax
2/3 cup of dexron
2/3 cup of stp oil treatment
Thanks a lot Ben and all the others on this forum!

Unless you're loading for a large army, you'll have enough lube there for several years of shooting.

Let us know how it performs for you.

LOL!!! $2.00 garage sale croak pot. I did have to steal her turkey baster though. She wasn’t happy! Sometimes you just have to let them know who’s Boss...I wasn’t about to try and pour that out in my silicone pans. Ben my son keeps me pretty busy reloading for him. Want to save him a few bucks on maxi balls. In stead of running around every sporting good store buying up all there bullets the day before season starts. DO YOU FEEL MY PAIN??? Oh yeah I have orders to go buy another baster.

that's like 30 sticks of lube.
at 5-700 per stick yer gonna need more next spring.
of course that's only like 275 lbs. of alloy or @ 18,000 38 special bullets.

Ian I’ll have to admit, I keep her honest! She’s a whole lot better than the first one...Fiver I like the way you think BIG!!! Hopefully I’ll still have some left to pass down to the grandkids. LOL

I don't really run small batches of bullets, unless I'm breaking in a mold, or in the discovery phase of a rifle project.
if it's a bullet I know I'm going to shoot, keeping a 5 or 7 gallon bucket full is kind of my standard measurement.

I was surprised at how fast that little croak pot filled up! Ended up with four half bread loaf pans. Going to pan luxe some 50 cal maxi balls. Saw a video where they only lube the bottom groove. Need to get Ben’s liquid lube made next!

It tends to turn to asphalt, and lack of water content in the lube often makes for hard fouling, especially with Pyrodex. However, those who say never use petroleum products in BP lube are preaching a gospel not recognized by everyone and it is not always problematic. Sort of depends on the propellant. Flaming Dirt, AKA Goex, does NOT get along with any kind of dinosaur derivatives that I have tried, but makes a sort of emulsified goo that doesn't respond well to soap/water cleanup nor to solvent cleanup.

How about Buck Emmert's lube? I modify it based on someone else's idea and found it even more satisfactory in dry climates.

50% beeswax
40% Crisco
5% lanolin
5% olive oil

For extra fun, make grease by melting any kind of sodium soap (Ivory, homemade, foo-foo hippie goat milk, or whatever) in with the olive oil right at the oil's smoke point in about equal proportions by weight, then gradually thin with Crisco at lower temperature until blended, add beeswax at under 200F, and finally the lanolin at under 160F.

Read some on that soap lube you had referred to Ian! Hunting weather here will be damp and 20-30* if this makes any difference in the lube recipe??? Sounds like the addition of ivory soap would help in cleaning up black powder. I’m pretty much done with the substitutes powder. Always shot 3F Goex and it always preformed well, till my T/C barrel went bad on me.
