I’m on it! The boss quite using crisco a long time ago. So, I need to make a trip to town!!! Read all ten pages today on cast boolits for recipes for lube. Emmert’s sounds like a proven load, with know petroleum in it. Just have to do the math?!? Like to make another two quart batch.

Emmerts is what I use for all black powder as well, cartridge or muzzleloader. Works fantastic. I even make it in the house, makes the whole house smell like honey, the wife loves it.

When I plan to use the ammo in the summer heat I make it a little stiffer with a greater % of beeswax.

Got to find some lanolin also! Hmm would that be in the baby department? LOL I’ve read where you ask the pharmacist for the anhydrous lanolin!

Find Lansinoh nipple cream at the pharmacy or grocery store. wally world sells it too. You get 2 oz for something like $8 which is robbery but is just about the only local source most places. Pharmacies don't have it anymore behind the counter because they do next to no compounding, and compounding apothecary shops don't usually want to sell raw ingredients over the counter.

Oh, and if you don't already have some olive oil on hand, good luck finding it. C19 has killed half of Italy and there's been a moratorium on exports for months.

I just did a google search, saw eBay had it! There’s also a product from Dax looks like a hair tonic (maybe). Doesn’t look like that will be to hard to find. What in bag balm for cows udders? Since where talking about nipples now Ian! Boss cooks with olive oil, I’m good there!

I never tried it in bullet lube but liquid lanolin from the hippie mart would probably work just fine in bullet lube. The liquid stuff is cheap because it's solvent-extracted after the original wool pressing, kind of like low-grade olive oil. The sticky wax lanolin is "virgin".

Anhydrous Lanolin is $18.50 a pound on Amazon w/ free Prime shipping.
I bought a 7oz tub last year, it was around ten bucks.

a couple of pounds will last a long time.
I have used all sorts of lanolin for everything I could think of and barely emptied one bag and maybe a quarter cup out of another in 15 years.
probably would have lasted longer but I was making lip balm, lubing this that and the other, and sending lube made with it out here and there.
I finally gave a pound of it to Pete about a year back and still have a full pound [and some] from the three I bought.

We have a hippy friend that we used to live next door to. She sent my wife and I some homemade lavender hand salve. It’s basically black powder lube with lavender oil in it. I think the recipe is olive oil, beeswax, lanolin, and the lavender essential oil.

She isn’t a gun person. I like pushing buttons. So I told her that I was gonna lube some bullets with some of her salve. She didn’t believe me. So I sent her a few bullet lube recipes.

She thought it was funny that all these gun nuts were using nipple ointment to make bullet lube.

I bought two pounds of anhydrous lanolin from a guy almost 20 years ago on the old "Shooters.com" board. This was during the days that Felix Robbins was in the final stages of developing "Felix Lube". I made a lot of lube (works perfectly!), and still have slightly over a pound left. It doesn't go fast by the tablespoon. And I was giving the stuff away to local casters to try, hoping they'd pick up the ball and run with it. They all wanted me to make it for them, and I wasn't interested in doing that.

Can’t say that I blame you! I think between Ben’s Red and this crisco beeswax recipe for the black powder. I should be all set! But then again what’s in Felix’s recipe? LOL I’ll have a admit, I was thinking about a moly lube. I’d read on how the moly was settling out when the mix cooled down! That doesn’t sound good to me.
