The CZ-75 is one of the most underrated pistols available.

The engineering that went into that design was top notch. The Czech's received more than their fair share of outstanding mechanical engineers and they produced some outstanding firearms. Unfortunately they also ended up on the wrong side of the iron curtain for a good chunk of the cold war.

The all steel construction of the CZ-75 is a bit "old school" and the gun is a little heavy by today's duty gun standards, but it is a well made pistol.
The full length, internal slide rails contribute to the gun's accuracy and the all steel construction soaks up recoil. They are just great pistols.

The grip of a CZ-75 is, IMHO, equal to that of the Browning Hi-Power. The DA/SA lockwork is durable. The cold war resulted in a bit of a time warp for the Czechs but I think they came out of that mess very well.

I don't know how good of a deal it was, he had to pay for the pistol.

If you want a CZ and don't want to pay that much check out the clones. I had 2 different SAR-b6p and they shot really well. The only thing I could not get to feed was the little Lee 358-105 swc.

No worries about ever getting SWMBO a pistol--she just reaches into the safe and grabs what she wants whenever she wants. I do the same to her refrigerator, so I guess it's fair enough. She is casting eyes upon the fairly-new S&W M-642 of late.

Our first CZ pistol is a Springfield (importer) P9 in 40 S&W Police turn in as departments were testing various options. We still have it 25 years latter. Reliable, accurate, good trigger and was our first 40.
