Brass reformed from .270Win to .250 Sav doesn't fit!

I almost bought some brass yesterday for my .250 Savage model 16 bolt action from a fella that had painstakingly reformed some .270 Win to .250 Savage, or so he thought. The reformed brass would not chamber in my rifle.
Upon measuring his cases we found that the head dimension was still at .470 instead of the .467 that the .250 Savage calls for. A trip thru two different RCBS full length sizing dies did not reduce the .470 dimension at all.
Is there such a thing as a .250 Savage small base die that would solve this issue or is there something else that could be done?
This fella has over 200 cases that look purity, but just don't fit my gun.
He no longer has a .250 Savage and never said whether they ever fit his rifle!

Forget it.

The sizer doesn't touch the case head in that part. You need a very strong "de-Glocking" push through sizing die for that and by tue time someone made, polished, and heat treated one you could have some nice, new, proper brass to work with.

If the necks weren't turned or (preferably) reamed in a form die, that will be your next issue.

There could be couple of factors in play. The web and case head area too large in diameter, If you have one, try a small base sizer for i.e. a .308 Win. It will bring the web area down a bit more. Or too long in case head to neck shoulder junction, it doesn't take too much extra length there to prevent chambering. Checking this on a head space comparator will help determine this. Measure both your cases that fit along with the reformed ones. Also like Ian said, have the necks been turned at all/reamed at all? There is a lot of brass from the 270 case body getting squished into that 250 Savage neck, could be just too big after getting pulled over the expander ball, which will only be compounded when a bullet is seated.

He said that the necks were all turned. I should have asked if any of that brass fit his rifle that he no longer has!
I'm just glad I tried that brass before I committed to buying it.
