FCAC4302-019F-4E3C-962E-C7249AD73DE3.jpegI made this dummy round for my Miroku 1886. This bullet is the BRP 462-420 GC sized to .45930. This round would not fully chamber if gently closing the lever but if briskly working the action it will. Did not stick or pull the bullet during extraction. My initial thoughts were it was a bit too much force to chamber but wanted some opinions please. Comparing some measurements to a couple of Accurate molds it appears they may be a better fit but they are close.

That's abrupt. I'd consider throating it a little regardless of which bullet you use.

Looks like modern spec, yuck. Definitely not the paper-patch throats offered as an option in some of the SS rifles for BPCR.

the 86's have a saami correct throat and no wear on them.
anything sticking out of the case at full diameter will run into rifling.
the barrels are super easy to throat and don't need more than 3-5 turns of the hand reamer, the hard part is stripping the rifle down.

From what I have found, the 1886s never had a throat. That is why the Rem 405 jacketed SP is a
two diameter bullet, so it will work in 1886 .45 -70s. Bore rider design should work. I can only guess
that the old ammo had bullets so soft that a touch of engraving was OK.

I have an Extra Lite from Miroku and have not been able to get anything other than the
Rem 405 to chamber.

Talked to my friend and gunsmith this morning. He's done the work on these before so he is familiar with them. I'll bring in a handful of dummy rounds plus a few bullets and cases to check measurements. We will touch it up until we get a fit. It will be a week before I can do that but once it's done and I get to shooting I'll report back with the results.
