California rules

A friend was about half-interested in my Cimarron SAA in 32-20. The problem being that he lives in northern California. From what I've been able to find out from the California DOJ page, some single actions are grandfathered--but which ones? Is there a master-list somewhere?

To the best of my knowledge, there are no single-action revolvers that are required to pass a 'drop' test. The Handgun Safety certifications don't apply to single-action revolvers.

Cal-DOJ rules are written in stilted, arcane language, and getting a definitive answer from Cal-DOJ is like chasing ghosts. The best plan is to contact the retailer that will handle the transfer and ask him or her if they are willing to conduct it.

California's Central Coast Amid The Insanity
Jim,
I'm not a dealer, but am pretty familiar with California's gun laws, except those concerning AR-type rifles.
All single action revolvers can legally be sold through a California dealer. In other words, they are not subject to the state's list of "safe" handguns. Of course, the transaction would have to go through your friend's dealer, that is if the dealer is willing to accept a transfer from out of state.

Here is the link to the "safe" handgun list:

Thanks guys! 462, that was the list I found and was puzzling over. My friend changed his mind (couldn't persuade himself to part with the revolver he wanted to trade), but I figured it was a good idea to figure it out for the next time.
