i finally got covid two weeks ago, tired, dry cough, fever, aches, loss of taste and shortness of breath. my dr and i decided not to take the jab because i still have blood clots in my legs and he was afraid I didn't have another stroke. i called the dr and he gave me a prescription of horse pills that i had to take twice a day for five days. i slept alot and i found the taste of covid/prescription was all powerful, it made me taste like the outhouse after the next morning of adult beverages. one week ago, i had the flu, you know, the fever, nose, throat and all around it wiped me out. Tuesday afternoon, i was feeling fine when my lower back decided to give out. it took me until Thursday just to get out of bed. Friday, i climbed down the steps and sat at my table drinking coffee. what's next? black plague? hemorrhagic fever? ebola? i know, you remember The Stand by Steven King, i think its Captain Trip's, or the virus that makes the dead stand up and eat you.

i know, i've got too, too much times on my hands.;)

i bought the Speer 130gr hp for my 10" Contender in 30 Herrett. i was going to with cast boolits (hunt deer at 100 yards or less), but i figure Dad's (RIP) 115gr Speer hp in 7x30 Waters could kill deer, why not the 30 cal Speer. i was wondering if 22.0gr of Rel7 (up to 26 or 27 gr max load?) and the 130gr Speer is a good place to start? i don't have Quick load, but i got 5 or 6 lbs of Rel7. i have H4198(less than a lb), h322(1 lb), Win296(less than a lb), IMR 4895 (2 or 3lbs) and 2400 (5 or 6 lbs). i have to check but i think i got IMR3031 (less than 1lb) too.

I dunno about the Herrett but I burn a lot of Reloder 7 in the .30-30, it's my favorite for cast bullets.

Edit to add, i got RSV or Adeno virus after Thanksgiving, that lasted until I got Covid again a week or two ago, and now the cedar fever is kicking me down pretty hard. Ears and mastoid bones are totally waterlogged and it's been like having my head under water fir about seven weeks now. All the king's steriods and all the king's antibiotics haven't done squat. Keep on plugging....

Reloder 7 is my 30-40 krag, 30 Remington, 444 Marlin, 20 Vartarg and when i am up to it, the 35/30-30.

I had a 30 Herrett 40 years ago and generally used IMR 4227 under 110s and 125s, and 4198 under 150s. The old green Speer #10 lists 24-26gr RL 7 for 1896-2027fps from 10".

I tested pos for covid at New Year, 2021... sort of sick, slight fever, mostly fatigue for about 2 weeks, lost sense of smell. I then tested pos for covid at New Year 2022. Very mild, 2-3 days just slight cough, very slight fever for a day. This year at New Year.... no problems. Although I was exposed to several people who tested pos, and I had to quarantine from work for 5 days, I never got it.

I refused ANY of the jabs.... just won't do it. Thought I was going to lose my 19 year job in the medical mfg industry because of it, but my company allowed a "religious exemption".
It's odd how it affects people at different levels. One of the techs I worked with got it, and was refused Ivermectin/hydroxy at the hospital. He was put on a respirator, and died. I hope I never have to come face to face with Fauci....

Well I've had all the jabs and haven't got covid yet. They work. Anything else I say will get into politics.
Yeah, well, we don't have to get into politics.... just talking health issues.
This is what I was saying about how covid is odd. Some people don't get it at all, some get it and die.
Thousands of fully vaccinated people still get it, and die from it. Look at cruise ships. Everyone on the ship MUST be vaccinated, yet still they have outbreaks where 80% of the people on board come down with it.
I have no problem with actual, real vaccines. I have been taking the flu vaccine and even the pneumonia vaccine for a bunch of years. Recently got the shingles vaccine.
The jab is not a vaccine.... it is just called that. It is a genetic modifier that is supposed to trick your body into thinking it's a vaccine.

Bottom line..... I'm glad you have not gotten covid yet, and I fully support your choice to get the jabs.

Yes, ODD.

Maybe 50 years from now, they'll look back on this like we look back on how people in the past handled illness. Sometimes, we flinch in horror, sometimes folks way back when were actually right. I doubt WE will ever have the whole picture, so we muddle through, do what we can.

Never been on a plane. And don't intend to.

Father served in the Air Force during WWII. Never got on another plane till very late in life, when he and my mom went to Alaska.

I got it a couple of years ago. Felt prety bad, but it never got me so bad I couldn't get up and function.

About six months later, got the first shot. Was absolutely useless for two days. Made me way sicker than the Covid did. Second wasn't so bad.

Personally, I'm done getting shots. Do what works for you, but the only reason I got it was to avoid getting sent home by my school district for ten days simply because the contact tracing they were doing would have done that had I been in the same zip code as someone who tested positive, they were that paranoid.

I hope you healed up from it OK.

Flights:
My one trip to AK was on a Sun Country DC10 with about 350 other people. Claiming baggage with 350 people who had a large cooler (for Salmon) besides the regular luggage was an experience all by itself...one I don't want to do again.

I fly regularly and don’t have any troubles with it. Already have flights scheduled in May.
To each there own. I got things I want to do and take the easiest route to get there.

I didn't really enjoy the one cruise we went on down to the Bahamas.... all in all I'd rather fly there and enjoy my time being there, rather that getting there. The only possible exception might be taking the ship over to England. They say that's a pretty nice cruise. Certainly eliminates jet lag from that flight.
We flew to Savannah from DFW back just before the holidays.... no issues. Flying doesn't really bother me.... cruising doesn't really, either, it just doesn't interest me.
I'm also not big into crowds, but sometimes you just gotta grit your teeth and endure....
