i had one of the original Vaquero's.
i ended up trimming down 454 casull cases and sizing to 453 for it to do it's best.
you'd think i'd have kept it after all that effort, but other things called louder.

I ended up real short large pistol primers, so I bought some .454 cases, trimmed them to length and back in business.

I have just one 45 Colt these days, but it is a jewel--my Ruger Bisley Blackhawk x 7.5". I did have to finish building it--the cylinder throats were .448"-.449" out of the box paired with a .452" groove diameter. I opened the throats to ,453" and size slugs to ,454" and it shoots VERY WELL. In recent years Ruger has begun producing revolvers in completed form, though the 90%-finished variants had a charm all their own.

I have room for another 45 Colt revolver, likely with 4"-5" barrel length. I've had a couple Uberti Cattleman x 4.75", and those are light, handy field arms. One of the Colt Anacondas would be just fine as well, if the 4.25" barrels go into production in 45 Colt. They aren't as light to carry, but everything is a trade-off.

No worries, Reeferman.

Those Ruger Bisleys are superb arms. Even when mine was still Built Backwards, it still shot very well with one bullet--Lyman #452490, a SWC/GC design. After throat surgery EVERYTHING ran fine, including 452490.

I shoot 452460 in mine,the 200 swc made for 45acp,,
This bullet, with 7.3 grs of reddot,1000fps,and cuts the same hole@25yards.
The mp 270 rcbs clone will do it as well, with hs6,,
Will never part with my bisley.
It also had .450 throats, leaded pretty bad, after it got reamed to .452,,it started behaving.

My remaining .45 Colt is a Gen 3, 5 1/2" barreled model I sent to Jim Martin in Kingman, Arizona. I wanted a bushing in the cylinder, and his tune up for SAA's. The only problem is it's .456" throats. I have a bucket of Magma Caster 230 grain RNFP's that measure .456". So, I can make it shoot to the best of my eye's ability with the blade front sight and hog trough groove in the top strap.

I have a Marlin 1894 CB, Ruger BH, and a SW Mod 25 all in 45 Colt. Wouldn’t trade any of them.
Marlin and Ruger have fat chambers, S&W won’t accept a fired case from either.
Smith gets a .453 bullet, others get a .452.
Ruger came with .449 throats and leaded horribly. I used a split rod and emery to lap them. Smith got measured at the store with gauge pins, had it accepted the .454 it likely wouldn’t have come home with me.
