Choosing between options for hunting

if the one next to it is 42 I would probably also explore 42.5 - 43.0 it might want to come back around at a little higher node too.
the closer you can get to 2600 fps or just over that your trajectory will improve about 200 percent.

Yeah, I may test that as well, we'll see how the groups look in the area around 41.5 first. Even with ~2560 FPS (this is estimated with a mathematical model rather than chrono'd since I don't actually have a chronograph), the ballistics calculator I'm using says a 100 yard zero only gives me a 5" drop at 200 yards. If the shot is further than 200 yards on my first hunt, I'm not taking it :D

yeah..LOL
open sights and 200yds is one of those 'in the field' 400yd. shots from the old days.

Yessir--even The Bull of the Woods gets kinda microscopic through iron sights at 200 yards.

Anyone lucky enuf to draw his first non-res goat tag is ,IMHO, foolish to use an ancient Russian rifle with lead bullets.

I started "making it hard" after I put the first 15 speed goats on the wall.

Hunted them once. Fired one shot. Killed one antelope. Used a 15” Contender.

The BS about Antelope is epic. you know that you can get close enuf to any animal to kill it with something other than a laser beam rifle.

I've spent 20+ years living with, studying and hunting speed goats. Has Brandon ? Does he have a guide who has ? It's a bit different from sitting in a tree stand waiting for a Whitetail (been there too).

If he were hunting with me, there would be no question of his success. As an old USAF buddy from CO knew.

It mostly depends upon what Brandon wants from the hunt. Is he looking to just get an antelope? Is the experience more important than the kill?
None of us can answer that for him. I won’t question his choice either way because it is his money and his hunt. I wish him well either way and hope he has a good time. Ultimately that is what it is about, right?

Sorry, point of order, who is Brandon?

The Mosin has shown me it will do at least 2.5 MOA with these bullets, and probably better after a little more load development. That’s using a 2-7x scout scope. I’m confident using it up to about 200 yards, although if I can get closer I certainly will.

Sorry, I assumed that since others referred to you as Brandon that it was your name.
My take is what I said. Your hunt, your decision. Just have fun and enjoy the hunt.

today your Brandon... and you'll like it...LOL.

they are just Antelope [actually they ain't even antelope] they have no natural predators anymore and spend their days wandering around like cows.
they ain't hard to kill and they ain't hard to hunt.
I don't understand why people come from all over and act like they pulled off an Olympic gold medal for getting a couple hundred yards away from an animal that could mostly care less that your there.

Fiver, I don't know where your Antelope are but where mine are we have Yotes, Wolves, Black and Griz bears, Mountain Lions and feral dogs all of which prey on Speed Goats ----- then there are the 18 wheelers who think nothing of plowing thru 100s of them during the migration. Our herd, largest in USA, has taken a real beating (as have Mulies) from terrible winters in the past 10 years. I hunted Whitetails for 40 years and find a nice buck far easier to kill than a trophy Antelope and Elk even easier. Hard is a Trophy Mulie outside the rut or a 10 year old Bighorn.

all over every part of Wyoming. [Pinedale/Rock Springs/Evanston/Wamsutter/LaBarge, even the Casper area]
I spent everyday all day long out there for over 12 years.
I could walk right up to within 40-50yds of them and even close enough to pet some of the 'wild' horses out there with no problem.
4-5 times a year they would just walk through our locations with everything up and Blaring at full speed.
watching guys trying to hunt them was comical and provided some good entertainment on the slow days.
like I said above most of the guys that did hunt them, did so with a Bow [a few would use something like a 45 colt revolver] and they were not doing it over a water hole from a blind.

I understand decoys, but I am ignorant about hunting under a "pivot". I have never hunted antelopes or any big game really so there is a lot I don't know. What is a pivot? Is it an item, a typo, or an autocorrect feature for another word? I get some crazy and frustrating "autocorrections" sometimes.
