Christmas Last Night

Yep. Found assorted ammo in zip-locs in a paper bag, under a bag of something else, which was in turn, under a bag of something else.

About 250 rounds of 22 shot shells, 40 rounds of 9mm Luger, couple of 38 spl. 3 or 4 44 mag., an Eley 360, a few other odds and ends and 1 Kynoch 577 nitro round.

Following that find, I opened the bottom drawer of a file cabinet and found a half dozen boxes of 12 ga., 1 box of 410 and half dozen boxes of 30-30 150 grn. core-lokt.

There are occasional high points while cleaning up and fixing up this cracker-box of a house.

What luck! Ammo is always good to find!

I can never find anything! Spent some more time today looking for a 4 doz bag of bobbers that I squirreled away someplace for the grand kids to fish with. Maybe find the dozen plus packs of assorted hooks and weights some day, too!

A single Kynoch 577 round? Got a photo of that bad boy?

Amazing the stuff one can find some days.

Yeah, all good stuff, and the Core-Lokt .30-30 is good hunting ammo, IME. BUT --
like Brad, the .577 Kynoch round seemed to just jump out as "what's wrong with
this picture?".

Ever own a gun in that cartridge? How did you come across it?

That said, I have a small display collection of African heavy cartridges that I never have
and likely never will have guns for - seemed like the thing to do after hunting in
Africa about a decade back. Just looked through odd cartridges at gun shows and
found a few.

This is stuff that was mixed in with Dad's old inventory. All these cartridges are likely 60 years old +/-. He likely did some gunsmithing on a rifle that shot 570 Nitro.
Now that I think about it, the family friend that traded him 3 Winchesters for the Garand that he sporterized, used to make pretty regular trips to Africa.

Like a big old 'see-gar' that round. Not sure I would want to shoot it, even
given the (incredibly unlikely) opportunity.

That is a nice looking saddle and bags, too. Not much like the old plain-jane
rigs I have ridden over the years.

I bet you have a ton of stuff that would be interesting to see.

Pistolero, that's part of a set that includes tapaderos, breast collar, gunbelt-double holster rig, chaps, pants belt, hat band, boots, spurs and rifle scabbard.

I've spent well over a thousand hours in that saddle; Dad likely thousands of hours. Was sitting behind the cantle, strapped to Dad by the time I was 2 years old.
Mom actually kept time while he made that saddle. 2 thousand hours to design, cut, stamp and stitch just the saddle. Doesn't count the time spent on any of the other pieces.

Yeah Brad, I have a little bit of museum (a tiny one) of western memorabilia.
Antique locks, oil lamps, branding irons, Wells Fargo safe.

Tis always interesting to find STUFF that I forgot I had, or didn't even know I had. Memory they say is the second thing to go!!!
