someone here done a write up on their S&W.
AIRC they were showing some cracking issues on the bolt face.
Cherokee maybe?
I think he was having them re-do the gun for the second time, best I remember the round count was in the 4-5K area each time.

I have an old police refit M&P 45 kicking around here somewhere, early model that won't take the Apex triggers due to a pin size problem. There are other things that can and have been be done though to make it better. Wife has a .40 from her late father, and a later .45 racegun with a deltapoint sight and Apex target trigger that we both hate. Lot of money there and it's more of an heirloom than anything. The .40 can rot, snappy and harsh to shoot, bulky and thick, the M&P autos are reliable but I would never spend money on another. I love my slim, graceful, well-mannered 1911s. Never got into the Hi Powers because there is nothing a 9mm can do for me that a .45 ACP doesn't do better.

I have a S&W 40 model 999? I think. It is a Smith and Walther compilation and does all I need it to. I got it as a police trade in with three mags. All shoot and function well. It is a pussycat to shoot as is the Kahr CM in 40.

I do like the flatness of a 1911, why I carry one every day. I am just wondering if there is anything that I
might need a .40 for.....the only thing is 15 rds vs 8 rds.

Thanks for the info.
