Does anyone here buy using E-bay?
Saw something I would like to have but have never bought anything
using them.
Have heard all kinds of horror stories so wondering.

I bought a set of grips for my Ruger Bisley Blackhawk a few months ago. Things went very smoothly and very simple.

Walter, you've got to stop showing those super spiffy grips. Every time you do I drool for hours.

I have been buying from evil bay for many years and being cautious is always prudent. Number one consideration is to pay attention to the feedback score of the seller and act accordingly.

I have discovered a completely fool proof way to avoid all problems and issues with E-bay. I don't go there, I don't look there, I don't shop there. To me it doesn't even exist. See? No problems. Simple.

I feel that way about Amazon. I've bought and sold on EBay, very few issues at all, not like it was in the old days. I just had a friend sell of some of my lesser used moulds, and outside of the fees it worked well.

I buy a lot of stuff off there from China. Blank fishing lures that i paint myself. I get them usually for $1/ea. If I buy the same ones here they are $5/ea. They are the exact same lure. Down to one of the molds that has a knick in it that leaves a mark on the side of the one that comes out of that mold.

I only ever had one problem. I ordered a new humminbird helix 9 depth finder. Add said delivery was signature required for delivery. I was not home that day and it was left on my porch steps. The crackheads across the street thought it was theirs. Seller said to bad it was delivered. Went to eBay and showed them the add that said sig required. They said too bad to the seller because he did not follow his own shipping policy. Got the money back as he refused to sell another one.

For Me they are not "evil"
I buy and sell a lot on e-Bay for many years ...and a PayPal account is a wise acquisition! I know many folks complain about them also but they are the safest oldest money exchange on the net. I have been with them a long time.
Between E-bay's and PayPal's customer service, any purchase or sale is doubly covered and they always have fixed a situation with a customer or sale or purchase that had issues! You got to research your seller for past sales....but this is common sense ( I also have always done this with Gun Broker and have always had enjoyable purchases) As we all know there are big opportunist on E-bay that take advantage of situations ( that is why the prices on gun related items are skyrocketing) ! But there will be some fool to buy a $60 mould for 300 bucks if he wants it bad enough
Just use common sense

JW, I'm glad you have had such good luck with them. Many of us have not, but they are the only game in town. I've used them for 22 years and have 100% feedback. But PayPal account robbed twice and eBay has never made good on their promises for me as a buyer or seller. Ric

Well I made the purchase.
Now it is wait and see time.
I always sweat out on line purchases as the credit card
has been stolen 3 times .Once from a major retailers employee.

A very, very long time ago I was eBay selling and buying, till PayPal and a buyer tried to screw me. That was the end of my relationship with both eBay and PayPal.

Ever try to close a PayPal account?

I guess I could be one of those opportunists. My mould sell-down started during a buying frenzy that had people bidding astonishing amounts for moulds. My goal was to sell about 30 moulds, but I was worn out by the time I had sold perhaps 20-25 of them. I started the moulds out with good pics at the price I wanted to get for them. I only pulled one auction, a Modern Bond wadcutter, and that was after no interest in it after two weeks. Everything else sold, and sold higher than I anticipated they would. I honestly believe I didn't sell anybody anything. I merely gave them the opportunity to purchase something they wanted, and they set the prices. My feedback on all sales was 100% positive.

I've had three PayPal accounts. I did close two of them, and the third one remains open, but unused. This is the reason I sold stuff on somebody elses Commercial account. The first one I closed when I got "legally" screwed on a purchase. The second one was closed unused because I wouldn't link it to a bank account.

Ebay is America's garage sale. I have bought and sold several hundred items and have never been bitten. But, I am a cautious sort and don't deal with sketchy people.
About 3 or 4 years ago bought a very nice new/old stock Krag bolt after Charles alerted me of the auction.
Have also bought a lot of machinist tools and sold a few on evil bay.
