Good 4x or variable handgun scope

Looking for the balance between cheap and good... You know that doesn't end well...

But anyways, I looked at the Simmons ProHunter fixed 4x and 2-6. Eh. Like the 32mm tube for better light gathering... Looked at the Bushnell Elite. Looking for a 1" tube, decent glass, and a duplex reticule. Thin crosshairs tend to disappear in the early morning. Id like them to pay me for the scope, but it appears more like $125- $175 or so.

Range up to 150 yards...

What's cookin'?

My handgun scopes are fixed 4x from Burris on a 35 Remington Contender and a 2x6x32 Bushnell Elite 3500 on my SRH. My Burris is an older scope but it has soaked up some recoil and never lost zero. I’m liking my newer Bushnell elite. Leupold’s are good scopes but price is higher than your looking for. Bushnell also. I prefer the 32mm as you state. What are you putting this on? Could the Ultradot 30mm be an option? Even the 1” tube Ultradot? Not as precise but for hunting they work. Even low light if you can see it you can put that dot on target and shoot. I believe you can find a 1” Ultradot for $175. 30mm a little more. I’m using 2 30mm Ultradot’s and 1 Ultradot L/T. Hope this helps!

.41 Mag 6 1/2 inch N Frame. I got some of the Hornady 190gr FTXs. As much as I love the 240gr Winchester Platinum tips, they are over 1$ a round.

I have looked at the UltraDot, but would rather spend the money on a hunting -and- target scope (target as in 100yd gong).

Henry rifle? The modern ones from Wisconsin? If they made a Big Boy steel in 414, I'd have to stick my finger tips under running water to put the fire out from pulling my wallet out so fast...

The 41 mag has eluded my mits all these years but I’ve always wanted to give one a go. I promise you can ring a 100 yard gong with an Ultradot. But I understand wanting the scope. I use both so I see both sides of the coin.

I see some good prices on the 30mm Ultradot’s going on now. Less than what I paid for mine. Just FYI.

I have a couple Weaver 2.5-8 variables. Hey have held up well for me. One lived on my 309 JDJ for years and that handgun recoils pretty well.

Praytell, where? I see Ultra Dot ULDT-0304S Optics Planet is @164, free S&H

Looking. 4 MOA seems to be a good size to pick up the dot, and large enough not to bounce all over (dunno, my crosshairs always are rock steady, must be everyone else can't hold steady ;))

Bummer, B&H Photo doesn't carry them..:(

I have been happy with Nikon handgun scope on 629. IIRC, it is 1.5 to 6 or maybe 2 to 6.
Reasonable price and stands up to the thumping.

On my T/C , Super 14, 30-30. I really like my 2X Burris, it has super clear optics.
Your 1st thought is....." Probably wouldn't work so well at 100 yards.....better think again . "
For some reason ( probably just me...) I don't shoot nearly as well with a red dot sight as I do a conventional pistol scope ? ?

Here it is at 100 yards with my Super 14, 30-30's favorite bullet and load.
( The " low round " is obviously me ! ! )
