To say I'm pissed is an understatement. After waiting a month for them to fix a simple light primer strike problem, they just send me a new rifle. Okay. This cost me a new transfer fee and an extra 10 bucks from my FFL.....Whatever. Get the rifle home. Clean it, torque the screws, adjust the trigger, mount and bore sight the scope. Go to check how the mag feeds..........This is a 300 BLK rifle.......It came with a .308 mag.......
RETARDS RUN THE SHOW OVER THERE NOW I GUESS!!!!!
MAD BEYOND WORDS RIGHT NOW........................

Well crap, that sucks.
I imagine a phone call will be made tomorrow. I know it is of little comfort but at least you can go shoot it as a single shot and make sure it functions.

I know Brad. I had a bad day and then I was so excited when I got a call to come get my new rifle(that cost me more $$$$ also)
Then I get it home just to find out the wrong $40???????? Mag made of plastic???????????? Was sent with it.
Yeah. Ruger will get a phone call tomorrow for sure.....

Complete incompetence is the new normal, I deal with it all day, every day.

Still, I can't believe they sent a new rifle over a bolt problem. That's nuts. No phone call? It's YOUR rifle, isn't it? You paid for it. Does a dealership make you sign papers on a new car the first time you take the one you just bought in for a warranty headlamp adjustment or tire re-balance?

I think the situation calls for a rethink.....what was so wrong with the old one or the design that was so bad that they couldn't fix it in a month ?
Seems like an extreme solution to a simple problem..are they having a "quiet" recall?

Comments by both Ian and Quicksylver are, IMO right on track! The new normal of incompetance seems about
what we seem to run into daily, and a rethink on the whole process seems highly logical to me.

I knew a guy that had 1 of the early Dodge Cummings 3/4 ton heavy-duty 4x4s. It had a different tick that while not wrong or an indication of anything wrong it was just not right. On his 2nd service the Cummings rep was at the dealer and went for a ride. He told the owner that they would need the truck a day or 2 to try some things . The owner gets a call say his truck is ready for pick up about 4 days later , the Cummings guy says " we can't figure it out I want to take it back to the plant and find the tic .
The owner says it's not that big a deal just different, the rep says ,they tell that's the truck you really wanted any way here's the keys and all the paper work to change the Vin on the loan and this check will cover the tax and title . The owner left with the same truck plus a model upgrade and in 1 ton .

It may be that when it was pulled down there were enough bugs in the rifle ,in terms of tolerance/defect stacking that it was deemed more appropriate to replace it than fix it . It may even be a case where something very wrong was found that was a hidden fault no longer hidden.

Ya ...and like the Remington 742"s...the factory stopped trying to fix them and eventually offered any one who owned one..a full value trade in on any other rifle...

Of course the word did not get around to all the owners...

The only thing worse than the rampant incompetency I see on a daily basis is the sheer arrogance of the incompetent ones. Since you caught them screwing up something important, you're the cause of all the problems.

This is the new corporate America, our people might screw things up a lot, but it's okay because we don't pay them much anyway. Meanwhile, the people who will actually put out the effort to do things right, and to make the customers happy are "overexperienced", or "too expensive".

I called Ruger this morning. I was very polite. The woman I talked to could have been a robot for all I know. She said a new magazine will be sent to me. I was in no mood at 5:30 this morning to argue or demand extra stuff. I figure in 8-9 days I'll get the right mag. In the meantime I plan on testing the new rifle this weekend to see if this one fires.......stay tuned......

think about how mad the guy that gets a 223 mag with his 308 is gonna be.
I'm hoping none of these problems pop up for the rifle we bought the wife,,, so far so good.

I had a friend back in about 67 or 68 who drove a 1966 Mercedes 190, not sure I remember the model
correctly, but it was the little four cylinder gas engine. Nice car. Retired to rural Fla and very well off, but
not flashy. He always would drive an hour up to the big Mercedes dealer in Jax to get all the service done
from day one. Followed the factory service recommendations to the letter, 100% at the dealer where he bought
it.

One time a couple years in to his ownership, they got back from lunch and the dealer said they were going to need
to keep the car, but that they would loan them a new Merc and that they should come back in something like
4-5 days, I forget exactly. The owner was really puzzled, quizzed them on why they needed to keep his car which
was running perfectly when he brought it in. They hemmed and hawed and finally said the something in the engine
"didn't meet specifications and it was necessary to replace it under warranty". They were surprised, it had been
running perfectly when they drove it an hour to the dealer. They shrugged, got the loaner car, came back in the allotted
time and got their car with a totally new engine. Never did exactly know what the heck was going on.

I always wondered if the mechs didn't drain the oil, take it for a test drive and damage the engine or something else
that they caused. The owner had the theory that Mercedes wanted a certain number of used engines to tear down to
see how they did in real world service and wanted only engines serviced 100% at the dealer to factory specs for their
study. Seemed possible.

Relax and enjoy the new rifle. They coulda told you to go piss up a lamppost. :)
Dumb mistake like sending the wrong mag is irritating, but not really a big deal. Some dork
always misses the brief.

By the way, they do not show .300 BLK on the web site as an available caliber. Wonder if
this somehow linked into the problem?

I see it. Ruger American Ranch. They have it in .556/223 or 300BLK
I'm not too peeved about the whole mess YET.....
I'll let you guys know this weekend when I go try to shoot it. I hope it fires like it should. If it does, no harm no foul. the new mag will be here in a week or so and I'll be a happy camper.
In through the nose......out through the mouth........
