Thanks, Ian, so some guy a LONG time ago cut a groove in the forend of his single shot falling
block rifles, for no known reason, other than maybe he liked it or "just because". And here we
are a century later with rifles with a groove in the forend for no known reason. :):headscratch:
Not a problem, just slightly weird.

I always though they were good looking rifles, but I have never owned one.

Brett,
He's using the Lee 200 gr. I bought the mould and cast quite a few to test myself. Kind of a back burner project for me. I have quite a few of the RCBS 240 KT's loaded now in .44 special I need to shoot first.

Fine looking rifle, Ben.

I didn't see any mention on this one filling Trevor's new rack. Hmm, g-pa sneaking one for himself ehh?

Trevor and I are going to the range on Saturday.
He has already told me...." Let's be certain we take the new Ruger , 30-30."
My goal was for this to be " my " rifle.
I guess we'll see................

I think Trevor needs a trip to Tulsa pretty soon so he can pick out his own rifle. Better bring the checkbook Ben.

You spoiled him. Shoulda started him with a bubba’d rifle or two. Maybe a few cheap Spanish clone revolvers too.

Hate to tell you but you are in too deep to get out now.

Well, I donj't know if Trevor spends time out in the reloading room with you, if he does, this idea won't work. Might not work anyway, Trevor seems like a smart boy.
Make some bullets that are all wrong, weight, lope sided, wrong alloy, just something that will make the bullet miss the target at 25' and out. Maybe he will lose interest in the rifle.:headscratch:
But like I said, he is smart, so maybe you are going to lose the rifle anyway.:sigh:

The 30/30 WCF was the first rifle caliber I cast bullets for. That was in 1981. 38 years on, I don't think you could specifically-design a better-balanced 30 caliber case for shooting cast bullets. You might crave a little faster twist rate for the bullet weights exceeding 200 grains, but the Lee 200 grainers sized @ .310" shoot pretty well in my 1-12" twists so far. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.

Ruger #1s just aren't very accurate. They are clunky to reload and a 30-30 doesn't have enough power to kill a rabbit or make it to the 100yd mark. I don't know what you were thinking. Want to sell it? (-:} Love those #1s, despite some idiosyncrasies they are just fun guns.

Arion, that makes it handy for shooting all my 30-30s when I get finished, just walk down a little beyond the 100 yd line and pick up all of my fired bullets from off the ground, and a few that might be hung up on the backing board, then load them up and shoot them again

Also, tell me about this Tulsa Gun Show? I have never heard of it. Seems like a long way to go for a gun show, they usually make the rounds and come to your home town eventually.

Tulsa is an amazing show. I have been twice, met Ben one time there.

You have to go to really appreciate the size. I can assure you that anyone who goes ends up overwhelmed. I hate to think of how much I missed.

If you can make it work then you really need to go.

Sept. 10, 2021 Steve left us. You are missed.
