Heritage Bar Keep

I have read a couple threads on other forums. I wanted to see things a bit closer and better. I found a couple videos from a uTuber. He has a nice pair of videos explaining and showing then a range trip.

I have handled these Heritage guns and they have always been "rough" and cheap feeling. I have always passed just on that.
But I also know not everyone can afford a Single six. The Reviews seem to be quite good. I do really like the look with that unfluted cyl and diff colored frame. The lack of a ejector rod, is a non issue for me. This isnt a combat gun. 5/6 rounds is gonna do everything and anything I need from this forearm.

Here is the shooting Video.

Here is the introduction video:

I need to "see" this one in my hand but Im really liking it. Im a little bothered the maggie is not included but its offered so I can live with that.

I believe 22 plinkster did a review on them a while back if I'm not badly mistaken. they are very cheap looking to me too. I think id rather have a ruger wrangler.

For your intended purpose though it will probably be just fine.

I dunno, it's hard for me to trust a company that doesn't make anything but a 22 on the low end of the scale.

We have a couple of the original 6" now rough riders . You get what you got . They go bang as often as ammo allows , get the right pairing and pop cans are in a lot of trouble under 100 ft .
I bought mine with the idea of a 22-25 ACP in mind . If they manage 22 WM a new F- pin insert with the pin moved a 1/10" and a small base die for the ACP you should get pretty close .

My Bro had one form the 60s, had adjustable rear sight. He was pretty good with it. I shot one from the 90s, worked fine. I didn't try the 22mag cylinder. No adjustable sight and I'm not good with a revolver. IIRC originally an import but in 80s declared a pot metal SNS and something changed. IIRC several other companies were having the same problem - some kind of legislation. I do remember handling the early bond derringer, crap.

Shallow visual assessment - Junk. Handled one once - Junk. They may have improved their quality over the years since but any SA revolver with a safety is a no-go.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
They have a fair rep among the trapline community for a rough and ready trapline gun. I've never shot one, but then, I've never shot a Ruger SS that was anything to write home about either. Others rave about them, so maybe I just shot the lemons.

People make fun of Hi-Points too. Not too many stories of them not going "bang" to be heard though. You use what you can afford.

That's my assessment as well in the same class as a High Point maybe not as good. We traded a High Point for a box of 9 mm's back when they first came out. I can honestly tell you that I shot to ever live in you know what out of that gun on our range and it never skipped a beat. Never…. No I don't own one I probably still wouldn't own one they are just fugly. ;)

But I want to put this bar keep in my hand if I can find one. I have a short-barreled birds head grip, 327 that I like a lot and that gun and 22 mag might be awesome Ruger doesn't make one.

My local dealer has three coming in. Hopefully today.
Im planning a visit tomorrow after knee therapy if they dont beat me up too bad.

I am considering this as a project gun. Everyone I handled was super rough. I resist to call it junk... But it sure didnt feel or work smoothly. Im considering a tear down and polish smooth as I do very much like the size.

I have the Standard model 6 inch barrel Ruff Rider. $120 bucks, well.... .
Only thing I really do not like about it is the plastic extractor nob. Just asking to get broke off one day.
But I have got more then my moneys worth of fun out of it. Never have to worry about something happening to it Would not put me out much.
I like that the cylinder you do not get with it is available for like 20$. I am planning on getting a mag cylinder for mine.
The trigger on mine is very nice but it is a single 4 click colt action, so kinda hard to mess up a trigger on that action.
For the price If you tinker and want to bubba it, who cares.

When I bought the one I have it came with both the 22 mag and LR cyl . I think it was just under $140 tax/ title/ doc .
I bought it with the idea that I would be able to rework it into a 22/25 ACP , so far common sense has prevailed .

Ya know they are making big bores now in 45 colt and 38 special. Course they are around 550 bucks.
