Yeah, I thought Wasp Waisted Sonic Bullets were
very cool when I was in the 9th grade.
Then I went to college got an engineering degree and studied aerodynamics. OOOPS!
The reason for wasp waisting supersonic aircraft is that the overall cross sectional area of
the plane needs to be constant as you go from the front to the rear for low transonic drag. Where
the wings add to the cross sectional area, you need to narrow the fuselage to compensate, keep
the total cross sectional area the same. No wings on bullets. No need for wasp waisting.
But it sure looked cool when I was in the 9th grade.
Wouldn't that have been a Herter's .401 PowerMag pistol, Rootmanslim?
