Does anyone here have or use herters presses?
I have a complete set of herters shell holders that need a good home.
Tried to give them to Pressman on the other forum but he never answered me.
They are free if you pay the shipping.
Anyone interested let me know.

I have a Herter's 3 (maybe it's Super 3) single stage "C" type press. It takes the 'slotted' shell holders.
Some Herter's presses use threaded shell holders, I did have one of those presses as well, but it got sold at a gunshow years ago.
I'd be interested in the shell holders. I think I have 3 or 4 slotted shell holders now.

To be precise, those must be Herters WORLD FAMOUS, GUIDE QUALITY shell holders, personally tested by WORLD FAMOUS GUIDE Jacques Herter under EXTREME ARCTIC SURVIVAL CONDITIONS!!!!! Those aren't any ordinary shell holders! ;)

good snag Jon.
I have like 5-6 for my C-press.
they are like oversized shell holders but weigh like they are aluminum.

Remember when Jacques Lenord Pierre Herter III saved his mother from a Cougar using his 401 Herter Ram Magnum revolver ?

Remember the wonderful phrase: "drugstore cowboys" ?

Remember Wasp Waist Sonics ?

Wonder why they went belly up ?

I believe part of it was getting in trouble for selling banned feathers for fly tying.

Yeah, I thought Wasp Waisted Sonic Bullets were very cool when I was in the 9th grade.

Then I went to college got an engineering degree and studied aerodynamics. OOOPS!
The reason for wasp waisting supersonic aircraft is that the overall cross sectional area of
the plane needs to be constant as you go from the front to the rear for low transonic drag. Where
the wings add to the cross sectional area, you need to narrow the fuselage to compensate, keep
the total cross sectional area the same. No wings on bullets. No need for wasp waisting. :embarrassed:

But it sure looked cool when I was in the 9th grade.

Wouldn't that have been a Herter's .401 PowerMag pistol, Rootmanslim?

Those Herter's catalogs were a trip. I bought a bunch of fly-tying materials from Herter's around the late 1960s to early 1970s. I still have a bunch of the hook boxes and hooks, and tying materials in small plastic bags in my fly tying kit to this day.

I'm am a collector of old magazines and catalogs. Advertising in the 40' and 50's was a completely different animal than advertising today. Herters was just using the same idea as many, many other advertisers of that era. Yes, it was overblown and seems out there today, but it was the norm at the time. There were some farm equipment outfits and clothing companies that were right there with them. To read one companies advertisments on their boots, you'd think your feet would be either warm as toast or cool as cucumber, all depending on what you desired- and those were nothing more than 5 buckle galoshes! I kinda miss that type of advertising. Now it's all about "NEW! IMPROVED!" and how this is the latest 5G whoosy-whatsit is something you have just got to have, and how this app is just guaranteed to astound your friends that never make eye contact because they never put their phone down. Give me Pierre the Lumberjack advertising his boots any day, or Herters WORLD FAMOUS, GUIDE QUALITY hernia truss, tested UNDER EXTREME ARCTIC CONDITIONS!!!!! That's just a lot more fun.

I can remember seeing ANG units flying the 102'sover the Adirondacks. I imagine they were either out of Burlington or Grifiss, not sure Plattsburg had any fighters.

Good morning
When I was in W. Germany on tanks we were part of a "Reforger" operation. Some F-4's were doing mock gun runs on our hilltop late in the evening. One hot shot came in very low. Got to the center of the hill top, pointed the nose skyward and cut in the burners. Set the dried grass hilltop on fire.
