A little less to day, only hit 93. However the rest of the week is forcast to be an inferno, with the weekend hitting possibly over 100 on Sat and Sun. Did get the lawn mowed at least, (makes 2 showers today). Glad we invested in a riding mower. Thunderstorms forcast to possible hit in early a.m. and again late in the afternoon, but the lows will remain forcast to be in the 80!. Hope to get to range early in the a.m. l

The humidity is the worst part, 94% and 74 degrees at 8 in the morning. Supposed to go over 90 again today and yesterday the humidity only dropped to 64%. :( Very much like being in a sauna outside.

I just got home from the range. It is currently 81 with a relative humidity of 74%.
We are forecast for 90+ for the next week. If it rain this afternoon as forecast the humidity tomorrow will be unbearable.

I did bring home better than 50 pounds of range scrap. Got a nice load for the 1911 too. An MP 200 swc over 4.8 gr of Red Dot. Shoots low enough that the rear sight is no longer bottomed out. At 25 yards I can finally sight in dead on instead of always holding 3-4 inches low. Pop cans aren't happy about this.

Was at the range also this a.m. Shot 30 rds of 308 and 50 rds of KHornet, and brought home 25 lbs of scrap.
Would have been more, but the flies were taking chunks out of my body, or at least it felt like chunks.

Those flies bit me some but not near that much.

i'll have to try that red-dot load.
my 1911's shoot a tick low with just about everything.
and the Para shows a definite tendency towards the 200 gr swc's. [which I have a bucket full of]
I have been kicking around which combination to try for a while now, I like the slower green-dot and unique's recoil but titegroup has shot well [is snappy]
I was thinking of trying American Select next, but might just give it a head to head with the red-dot now.

I looked around for loads and it looks like somewhere in the 5.2 gr of Red Dot range is max. I don't need the extra velocity so I will stay where I am.
This load is definitely a bit faster, and louder, than my old load of 4 gr of Clays with the same bullet. Being out of Clays I turned to Promo which I got 8 pounds of for just under 100 bucks a couple years ago.
Recoil didn't feel any snappier but that is pretty subjective. The small radius FPS makes a difference there. Brass seems to eject about like before.

I'm pretty close to the red-dot max but with green dot and a 230gr rn mold I got rid of long ago but still have a few thousand boolits leftover from.
none of the acp's are tack drivers but the 624 and this new Para show some good promise of hitting well out to 50 yds.
the 624 is the bedside gun and 3"s is good enough since seeing the front sight is my main concern with it.
I'd just like to be able to stack some holes up with the Para, it has all but done it with some 200gr swc's already so I know it's capable of doing it.
if I can tighten things up a bit more i'll pop for an adjustable rear sight and dial them into place.

Yes, running the weed whacker and Great Dane zero turn mower this afternoon.
Hot and humid., sweat dripping heavily. Still, better than my youth in central Fla,
where 98F and 95% RH were the norm. Here it was about 95F and only around 80%
RH, much better.

Started off the day teaching my young friend the beginning of position shooting. He has
spent too much time bench shooting, and it is stressful transition. The sights won't settle
down!

Yep, they don't ever settle down, and you can still shoot tight groups. He is learning and
appreciates the coaching. I appreciate being on the range in the cool of the AM, before
getting out working on the property in the hot part of the day.
