How do you bench rest your revolver?

I don't think I was shooting when that picture was taken. I also don't rest my wrists on the bag and the hammer isn't cocked and trigger finger is where it belongs when not shooting. I'm new to the red dot thing and was most likely messing with dot brightness and size and wondering how ya could shoot groups with the dot larger than the bullseye. Very frustrating but the eyes are gone to where open sights are an impossibility. Scopes only some better. The red dots get me on target ok but groups? Not so much.

Front rest similar to a std BR test in that it's a "tri stand" base with capstan wheel. The difference is, instead of the usual protector front bag.....

A wood insert is fitted to the top,on this insert is a V groove cut inline with gun/target. Then some thick leather( holster thickness) is cut to fit into the groove and bradded in place.

Mainly a revolver shooter but it works for 1911's pretty durn well.

The "field expedient" is the same crossed aluminum arrow, surgical hose slipped over the top 5" that is carried almost daily for CB rifle blasting. Which,in retrospect was started when I was, handgun only hunting.

I find it very helpful to have some kind of padding under the elbows when I bench the 454.

I either recline and put my wrists between my knees or if I bench, I rest the frame on a bag, and wrists rested.

I wondered about that. A time or two I put rested mine right ahead of the cylinder, powder burned the leather.

That's why I made an rest for the camera tripod using a scrape piece of aluminum C- channel. Would have to go down to the shop to determine the exact size. IIRC, it's about 2 1/2" - 3" wide. It's covered with a piece of molded rubber, that was re-purposed from the older metal Milwaukee cordless drill motor boxes.........perfect fit. Waterproof and cushioned, tripod left out in the blind all season.
