I found an hour to cast some new bullets for my 358 Winchester.

'll bet that was the Winchester "Black Talon" scare from 20 some years back Keith. Even up here I had a co-worker ready to arrest a guy for possession of same. Fortunately I got there ahead of the arrest and pointed out they weren't "illegal" in NYS, just that Winchester pulled them off the market after bad (hysterical) press.

A good friend of mine was a detective in Baltimore PD
He had a stand down when he met a BG in an alley way 15 feet away the BG fires 3 rounds ...He returned with one ( un hit)
That night he phoned me to say it was the scariest time in his carreer ....and that the Black Talon he fired worked amazing!

Bret, I get the feeling you are a little better informed about firearms than the average LEO.

Haha. That was a common misconception. But never did I think someone would be arrested for such!!!!!!!!! I know some locals have HP in general illegal. (NJ) But for possession of a BRAND? Ha!

Well, in his defense, making them illegal was being talked about everywhere at the time and especially in our state. He was an excellent Trooper and one of the finest men I've ever had the privilege to know, a truly good man. Given the circumstances his mistaken belief is understandable. OTOH, the cocky little twit that I intercepted trying to ticket a farmer for not having his ATV registered or wearing a helmet while building fence required quite a little bit of persuasion before believing that in that capacity an ATV becomes an "implement of husbandry" and therefore is no longer an ATV falling under the V+T law. Had to do a lot of educating with that nimrod!

CW- I won't go into some of the malarkey pulled up here in NY after passage of the NY SAFE Act as pointing out the absurdity and stupidity of it would clearly get into politics...

In Indiana you can't use, own , or make plastic coated bullets for handguns. Stupid law, but it is the law. No problem with plastic coated rifle bullets. I mostly shoot handguns, so while I find PC interesting I can't use it. My "comfort zone" is not going to jail on a gun rap!
If the law actually states “plastic coated” know this is not plastic at all. Understand completely about test case and deep Pockets.
