I generally dislike optics on Leevers...

Anything that helps the shooter put the boolit where it needs to go is fine with me. I have a Marlin Centennial with a 3x9 on it. It shoots surprisingly well out to 200 yards. Ugly as home made sin but it works.

Whatever works for you. In the words of Red Green " I'm pulling for ya; we're all in this together. "

i use Redfield and Lyman aperture sights on my rifles. when i could no longer see the target with open sights, i've used them. when i got my glasses (i couldn't see the target, even close, 50 yards), i still stayed with aperture sights.

i bought a cheap reflex sight to see if i liked it or not. i put it on my ruger sbh in 44 mag/spl and i liked it. next i put the cheap reflex sight on my handi rifle in 45-70 (i did trapdoor loads) and i found that its accuracy was not good for target shooting, but good enuff for deer. i still have the cheap reflex sight somewhere, unlike my 45-70. it was taken by my oldest son to another state so he could kill hogs. its my 3rd swing and a miss for the 45-70. the 45-70 handi rifles, i bought three of them and every one of them are gone......:headscratch:

Not all Romeo's have the shake awake feature. I'm not sure about the Romeo 3 but be aware.

Yes, dizzying array of dot-sighting options.

The more I look at the others, the more I believe my first foray into the newer dots should be reasonably pleasant with the 5. For the price, it could later be re-assigned to something else if I decide I like something better after learning more. This way, I can shoot while I shop, so to speak.

I have a Holosun 2 minute dot on my AR and am very pleased with it. It is not shake to wake but they advertise battery life at 50,000 hours, that is not a typo, fifty thousand hours. When carrying just turn it on and leave it on. I am on the same button battery set for over 5 years and it is still going strong.

I REALLY REALLY wanted one of those but the dang 3 MOA TRS-25s kept going on regular rotating sale for less than fifty bucks and a 20-card of CR-2032s at Tractor Supply runs $10 so I never got the Holosun.

I have a Romeo5. (Same shape and footprint as TRS-25) its about 120$ when I bought it. It has shake awake and works very well for me.
I bought a SwampFox last year and liked it enough to pick up a second on sale. The second was more costly and has this shake awake.
Your right Jeff SO MANY options out today its mesmerizing trying ta choose!!

I have had very good luck with the Vortex Venom. I bought one then a second was on a pistol I bought. They have been 100% reliable. My initial reflex was a Tridjicon and a identical Tasco, way back before there costs exploded. Both failed me, the Tasco lost windage adjustments. The Tridjicon lost elevation. Tridjicon replaced it under warranty. That replacement is a no battery jobber using solar & iridium implants. Its approaching 8 years now. Still working! I have also had the TRS-25's and they are simply work horses for the 50-80$ they cost. (Beware of knock offs)

I own exactly one TRS-25.............can't remember if it's even mounted on anything. Bought it for Cindy's bow. Took if off, since she hasn't used the bow for over ten years. Bushnell is akin to Lee to me............ya get what ya pay for. Never had a scope/sight from them that survived. What I recall, is the rheostat was a bear to turn and even at the lowest setting, it was too bright, for low light. Might be alright for a 22 LR.

Big fan of Trijicon. Been using their products since the early 80's. Customer support is fantastic. Have had many tritium elements re-lamped, over the years. I own a half dozen of their products. If they can't re-lamp a Trijicon branded optic, they'll send a new model free of charge. I have a full size reflex that had the chevron reticle they couldn't re-lamp. They replaced it with the current triangle model and returned the one I sent in for re-lamping. As a result, I have an extra that works in daylight but not in low/no light.

My first experience with Trijicon was with their Armson OEG's. Used by the South African Military IIRC. They were a 4 minute tritium lit, 1" tube dot sight that you couldn't see through. One eye picked up the dot, the other eye, superimposed it on the target. Once mastered, it was fast and capable of hitting a silhouette in almost no ambient light. They were inexpensive, ($109).............I had six of them mounted on handguns, shotguns and bows. I had them re-lampled about every ten years, until Trijicon didn't support them any more. :( That began my foray into replacements. Was almost impossible to find any dot sight, except for Ultra Dot, that mounted in 1" rings. The OEG's still work in ambient light, but not in low light. Hence they aren't used on deer hunting equipment. Ultra Dots were used on the two bows because of the aftermarket scope mounting requirement of 1" rings. Coming from a full automatic sight to a manual one was not something I relished. As a result, I tried out a lot of other products............most all have had their failings.
