But here goes .
I bought a 535 mould and it's just too long to load as a grease groove bullet for the Marlin . I'm sure it will be fine in Jorge's 73' Springfield .
It would be passable as an Indy 45-60 1.8" straight case thingy . I liken that to 38s in a 357 , in the crud ring context .
This leads me to the paper patch and deep seat on a compression resistant powder charge . I do have a 460 S&W FCD that would hit the top lube groove (see the 1.8" Indy thing) .
In my twisted mind this seems like it should work like the 7.62 Nagant with the case crimped over the bullet sort of . I've prepped 37 pieces of Hornady LevEvolution brass so if it is a spectacular failure at least it won't ruin good brass . I will of course see "the dreaded rings" . I expect this to be either into to the low 1300s or under 1100 fps MV and to , after a pass fail test , form a cup point anvil for the Lee sizer and size base first . It only needs .006 to get to fit by math with my pistol alloy .
Any suggestions other than the obvious of get a mould with a proper nose length ? I have a 460-420 MP and 458193 but I wanted something slicker and as an option for another project .
4831 and 4350 are on deck for the to slow to get hurt value . Although they may well be coming into the bottom of their curve at this point .
