I took a chance on GB and i kinda got stung. ST Auctions sells a lot of off brand merchandice. I have purchased powder from them before.
They had an assortment pack of SRP. CCI, Fed., Tulla were named as available. I did realize that i get what i get. But i have never heard of a Fort Smith primers. But that is what i got. 5K Rusky Small Rifle Primers.
This is just a heads up if you have looked at ST Auctioins

Tula AR SRP is all I've been using in my Blackouts. Zero failures, loaded about halfway through a 5K pack and shot most of them. Made some very impressive groups in three rifles and zero reliability complaints even loaded on a progressive. I take that back on the complaints......they smell terrible right out of the package, very unpleasant.

Don't feel bad, my brand new "slightly used" case trimmer has a bad motor. It's weak when it's cold, then runs okay for awhile, but overheats after that. That motor gets hot, but hasn't popped the thermal switch yet. I'm guessing the front bearing is bad since it heats from front to back. I laughed at myself and simply ordered a new motor from Imperial through work. Now I'll have the hotrod version of my trimmer, and I still saved money. All I have to do is figger out the new wiring schematic. The original site with the upgrade info seems to no longer be there.

I use Remington 7-1/2 SRP in all my 5.56 and 7.62x40WT loadings. Never had an issue.

Never heard of them. May work fine, give them a try and let us know. Couldn't find any reviews on the primers, just +/- reviews on their ammo.

I got 25 K Tula pistolprimers back when primers were scarce.
Not the best for 100 yard accuracy loads but for general handgun use I’m happy. They have all gone bang.

I load a lot of Tula SRP's and they've always gone bang. How many did you get and what'd you pay?

I bought a few bricks of Remington SPP back when primers were scarce, not realizing they were not suitable for high pressure pistols.
Trying to use them for .38 SPL and .380 APC loads, but don't load too many of those anymore.
I'll never use these all up!

Cherokee You have to google ( ST Auctions on Gunbroker.) That leads to directly to GB and ST Auction.
It turns out that the primers are imported by ST Auctions from an importer named Fort Smith Primers.

Ian, too much bat guano in the primers, probably.

Nitroguanidine is an actual additive for artillery powders....and maybe something
like it in Rooskie primers.
No longer made from bat guano, but I believe it once was
refined from that, hence the name.

Ely .22 priming compound smells pretty funky, too, and the Mexican .22 ammo uses
the same stuff, smells the same.

You have to be more careful that that, Dpmsman, with berdan primers. I got burned buying
a bunch of berdan primers which fit perfectly into my 7.5 Swiss brass.....but are useless for full
power loads, will not ignite them. OK for cast loads, will light off 10 gr of Unique OK, but I was
competing in Swiss rifle long range matches and wanted full power. It turns out that they are
intended for 7.62x39 use and while they fit fine in the Swiss brass, are not useable for normal
full power loading. And actually, I haven't shot enough of the Unique loads to be certain that they
are actually accurate, may still have ignition issues, even though they do make a "bang" rather than
the "click" with IMR 4064.

Live and learn, sometimes at a pain to the wallet. At current rates of use, I have several lifetimes supply
of these....:embarrassed:

Oh, and Ian, the only reason I ever even heard of nitroguanidine is that there is a now-defunct huge US Army
ammunition plant from WW2 nearby (like 1000 acres, and not Lake City - that is on the other side of town
and still in service) which made huge quantities of gunpowder, up to and including 16 inch gun powder, it
is reported. The last unit which operated into the late 70s or into the 80s was the nitroguanidine unit. Flying
over it all the time, one day I noticed that the array of identical powder making units had a missing element
in the geometrically regular. Closer examination on another pass showed a tree filled crater at the end
of the long conveyor system where the other units had a large earth-mounded bunker with a door catcher.
:oops: Clearly somebody had a bad day at some point.

Yeah, a friend (who also got burned) did that with something like 3 gr of BE and then the rest 4064 and the initial test
showed that they went bang.....but with the added PITA of decapping the darned things that whole
mess has just sat for about 3-4 years.

When primers were scarce, I bought 5K Tula SP primers. Averaged one FTF out of 50.................will not buy again. Almost out of them.:)

But I doubt that anyone, shoots as much as I do. I dug out my backyard berm last Spring and I bet I can recover 30+ pounds of cast bullets, today.
