Is anyone using AAC 5744?

Bass, just what I was saying replying to your post #17 where you said it must be working for somebody or it would be gone. I understood what your saying in your post #19 and most likely most here will also. Point is lot's of people stuffing powder in cases that have no idea why other than somebody said use this. Most of them would go cross-eyed reading that. Is there enough of those people to keep any given powder on the market? Dunno but I would say probably.

New powders? Yeah, seems like every time ya turn around anymore there is a new wonder powder. Any of them any good? Most likely yeah but I haven't kept up on them. I've got enough of a powder supply on hand I may never have to buy powder again.

Just went down to the shop and checked the version I have. It's not the XMR.............I do have a notation on the container to use magnum primers. The 4350 is XMR.............also use magnum primers with that. Tightens up my groups, a bit.

I don't recall any usages of any of the 5744 derivatives.

BRING BACK SR-4756!! All seven of its world-wide users miss it something fierce.

While we're doing the resurrection incantations, let me add IMR PB to that list, me and the other two guys miss it dearly.

@CZ93X62 ; my local dealer (in Norway, sorry) actually has like 20# SR4756 on the shelf (none of the seven users around these parts, obviously). I haven’t tried it yet. I load only bottle neck rifle cartridges (.223, .308, 6,5x55 and .30-06- very exciting cartridges :)). Would the 4756 be a good option for me? They also have a lot of sr 7625, but no 4759. I snached the last Pb they had,I think.

I'd be totally on board with PB coming back.
another powder I think I'm the only person on the planet using it is Accurate's 4100.
it's just a bit denser and faster than 2400 kind of like they intended it to be 2400 but got the grain size a titch too small.

4756 would work as a cast bullet rifle powder, I have about a pound of it left and use it in my 45 colt.
it makes some pretty stout 10ga. steel shot loads too.

AA4100 sounds an awful lot like Ramshot True Blue.....which is a fantastic powder although the grains are so small and dense it pours like water and leaks about like water out of every measure I've used it in save for the Lyman 55. I tend to think of True Blue as 2400 that burns more uniformly at lower pressures. Still dirty at low pressure, just a lot more consistent in things like standard-pressure .38s than any other powder between Herco and Lil'Gun. It's one tick slower than Herco, close to HS-6, and like Herco/Unique and some of the Dots, can stand high pressure without getting surprise pressure spikes.

actually it's cross over is Enforcer.
most ramshot and accurate powders are just named something else in the other company's logo on the wrapper, with just a couple of stand alone powders in the line.

SR-4756 was Magic Load Dust for the 32/20 revolvers, of which I have three in the gun safe. Herco is turning out to be a half-decent replacement, and since Herco does the 1-1/4 oz work in 12 gauge and my 3/4 oz work in 28 gauge very well, life got better when I nailed those questions down just before getting injured and infected this summer.

I've shot some in 30-30,308,'06 low to med pressure loads. Works OK. It was "early" on after the disappearance of 4759. I started playing with it. Problem was the street price was more than most other powders so I never really got going with it..... if that makes sense.

Had 15g behind a 311041 in 30-30 loaded prolly 10 years old? Then when looking for cases for the Gdaughters H&R..... shot them to get the thing "started".... zero scope, function testing, yada. Put 10 shots into a ragged hole @50 with mild recoil. So that load was tested within the last month.

At the price I'd be inclined to latch on to it , despite not having tried it. Have an allergic reaction to missing deals on primers & powder.

holy recoil Bama.
I start getting that far up with a 165-170gr bullet and I stopped having fun about 100 fps ago.

That load made me buy a Witt brake, I would not shoot it again without brake which cuts about 60% of recoil. Getting too old to be beat around like that load does shooting from bench. Main gun now is 6x45 which has almost no recoil.

Bama. What kind of accuracy are you getting at 350?
I had posted some pics on "Accuracy at 350 yds" on CB site that were in 3 1/2 to 4" range. Could not do it every time but fairly often, that is with the neck sized bore rider bullets with bullet seated to just the bottom of neck and rest of it in bore with just a slip fit. Concept seems to work. 6 mm using same concept is a lot more fun because it doesn't beat you to death.
