My new pot arrived on Monday, however the casing on the control box had been dented and pierced in transit despite it being properly packaged, then again Stephan does use Herpes which has to be the worst of all our crap, not fit for purpose deliverers. More worrying than the dent was the rattling coming from inside the console

Took a couple of photos sent them of to Stephan proposing that I open the console and have a peek inside to try and assess any damage before filling with lead a turning on, the PID controller was proud of the casing bezel at the top and I was just hoping that the retaining clip had come off when Herpes has attacked it. Stephan said go ahead.

So this morning I opened it up and sure enough the only damage that I could see was the sprung retaining clip, popped it back in place, re-aligned the PID, replaced the cover, bashed out most of the damage to the top cover, changed the plug, positioned her on the bench, loaded up with 35lbs of lead and a smidgen of tin, plugged it in and hit the switch all the proper lights came on so I set the PID to 850 degrees, warming switch set to 2 and then set about preparing some moulds and getting them heated up on the hot plate. About 3/4s of an hour later the melt was up to temp fluxed and ready to go, it will only take 20-30 minutes in future to get up to temp, it is only when you are starting with an empty pot and ingots that you need to put the heat cycling on so that the pot doesn't overheat where there is no alloy touching the sides.

I cast some RCBS Minies, 44/40s and some 0.690" round ball for the cannon and the Brown Bess using a 1lb Rowel ladle. The bullets look very good indeed but eventually only the scales and the target will tell, usually when dipping my reject rate is around 10%.

Anyway pictures are supposed to be better than words so here we go with her set up next to her brother.

Dang,nice writeup with,pics no less?

Maybe 10 years ago?I order a fleabay Federal, bench, snap gage.Think, checking base to ogive bullet measuring from heck.I get the pkg and it's obviously damaged..... dang, what moron was in shipping? They managed to bash the living snot out of the original, finger jointed Oak box.To say I was disappointed is an understatement. Oh,the gage was intact. The shipper did a well enough job of packing, and I sent him a message stating as such.

Stuff happens?The gage is living the good life,measuring CB's.The box,well..... dang,what a shame?

Aye there is less and less care in this world today.

Stephan is sending me a new lid for the control box, he gives great service.

Dromia It looks like you have a well used bench. Everything close at hand. I don't think i have ever seen an electric outlet recessed into a conc. block wall before.
What is the gent in your picture for?

That RCBS mini is an awesome projectile. My Enfield really likes that one. I did have a new base pin made that gives a thicker skirt and a shorter, flat top cavity.

Nice looking pot. You have a winner.

Kevin,,, Adam doesn't have a link to his website in his sig line here.
if he posts it you can follow it and see what the Bundhooks are.
it would help if you knew he was in Scotland.

I really need to get me a stand like that bottom pour has, made up.
the one I'm using is made out of 1" angle iron with a sheet metal covered wood box underneath.
serviceable for sure but it doesn't have the strength and simplicity.

Yes as Ian says it is the logo for my firearms business which I started when I retired from the world of work 9 years ago, you need to do something to pass the time 'till you are dead.

He is a soldier from the 93rd regiment with his pattern '53 rifled musket around the time of the Crimean war. I have started adding the image to my photographs as I was getting a tad miffed at seeing my photographs being used by others without the courtesy of recognition

My website is at www.pukkabundhooks.com.

Is it just me but does anyone else have to reload the page to get the penultimate photograph, the one of the bullets, to appear?

It doesn't load first time I open the thread.

Worked fine for me, too.

Nice looking bullets. Not familiar with that pot but it looks very nicely made. Great report.
Going to go check out your web page next.

Quite a collection of guns for sale, sir. If I could ask for clarification on your gun
laws, I see a .22 RF replica of an AKM for sale. Just curious about the legal requirements
of different countries. Would a semi-auto only AKM in original 7.62x39 be as legal
and as easily acquired as the .22RF replica? What little I know about the gun laws lead
me to think that any semi-auto rifle would be illegal or require some extremely limited
permit (if such even exists). I am guessing that .22 RF may be an exception to the rules?

I have seen these .22 RF German replicas of various military arms offered here, and never
quite understood the marketing. Thinking about other countries with more restrictive
laws, if they are permitted in .22RF but prohibited otherwise, then the marketing makes
more sense.

I have pulled together a collection of WW1 and WW2 weapons to understand the technology,
capabilities and limitations that each army operated with. For me, it makes the history more
interesting to be able to fire the small arms of the different combatants.

In any case, looks like you have quite a nice selection of guns for sale. That is good.

Semi auto full bore firearms are banned in this country.

So there are a plethora of .22 lookalikes along with straight pull versions of full bore rifles ARs, AKs, SLRs, Garands etc etc.

What you see on the web site is just a fraction of my stock, most guns come and go long before I get round to photographing them, writing the descriptions and then uploading to the web site, bit of a chore and a treadmill to be honest especially as computer work holds no interest for me.

OK, so deactivate the gas system on a SA and it is legal. Not to terribly bad, I suppose. At least
you can still shoot them. Thanks for the education.
