K-22 Problem Solved

A few years ago I bought a mid-1950s K-22. It was in great shape and reasonably priced. I was disappointed that it would not cycle when I shot it for the first time. The cylinder would freeze about half way between some chambers. Empty it cycled almost all of the time, the timing was just fine.
I cleaned it thoroughly to remove the gummed-up oil and polished the very few rough edges. Still hung up when shooting. I put it in the safe and didn’t forget about it.

I took a look at it a few days ago and noticed that the cylinder rubbed on the barrel with quite a bit of spring force. Holding the cylinder back the gap was about .004, and the rotation would stall with the feeler in place.

I installed a .004 end-shake bearing and checked the yoke alignment, which was good. A trip to the range gave positive results, 100% functioning.
