So I cleaned out a ol cabinet Today. I found a few boxes of Commercial cast lubed bullets. I also found about 250 molly coated lead.

Is or will the molly cause any issues in my pot. Im wanting ta re melt these molly coated bullets.

Melt away in my opinion. It will just float away when you clean the lead.

The ones I’ve remelted seem to leave black dust on the surface of the melt before and after you flux. These were bullets I “tumble” coated with moly and then a carnuba wax powder. Acted the same as some Lee Liquid Alox lubed bullets that would not dry and I “dusted” with graphite. Didn’t work well and I remelted these too. I’m off of moly and graphite as bullet lubes for life. Need to scrape sides and bottom well to get it all to float. Lots nicer than re melting commercial cast bullets with hard lube!

I've melted a lot of these (failed experiments, mostly). My impression is that cleanup went a little easier when I fluxed with sawdust, but that may be because I make it a point to stir the bejeebers out of the sawdust.

Thanks guys. Like many of you Im sure I tried MOLY. For bullets. Cant say I had "problems" but dirty moly coated barrels, but I also found no advantage.

I also found most of a case of CST Bullets 120g .313 32/20 bullets. I had bought back in'95 according to the receipt Looks like I only shot up 2 boxes. They are also all moly coated. Ill hold them as they cost nothing.
Can it be cleaned off?? (Doubting that)

I got a bunch of Moly coated J-words cleaned up in the dry tumbler by using a citric acid mixture and some plated steel shot.
it didn't quite get all of it off but it got 90-95% and a trip through the pin tumbler took it down to where they just looked like they had fire damage.
I think the first go through just kinda jostled/peened the stuff in more after it took the majority off.

Have fun getting burned on moly out of your bore. I shot a lot of 243 molly coat 87gr hpbt and that was a barrel burner. it took multiple hour long soaks. Finally took jb polish to get it out
