For the last couple years have been trying to contact Merit, have called the number on the website and sent emails, no response. I have heard they are no longer in business, and then hear they are. Anyone know for sure either way? Thanks for your help.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
My understanding is they are in business, but not making the sighting discs. I've been after one for 5 or 6 years now. Ended up with a fixed hole job off Ebay, works pretty good.

Ordered 2 from EABCO a few months back and received them in short order . These were the screw in apertures for receiver sights not the sighting attachment for your glasses. This is what I think you were asking about.

They were not making them at all for a while but now are making one version of the aperture and the suction cup glasses aperture .

Try a little double sided tape, the clear stuff tht's like Scotch tape, not carpet tape. Not as handy as the suction cup, but it will work.

That's a neat idea. The Merit is in the archives carefully preserved. I'm doing OK on the handguns today. On the muzzle loading rifles the rear sights have been moving forward with the passing of the years.

$110! Yikes! I think I pd ~$50 for my first one. Decided to get a b/u/couldn't find one for a long time, finally did/forget where. Think it was in the ~$50-$60 range, but I gotta have it for my handguns - especially the fixed sight old Colts/Smiths, and the SA revolvers.

They are in business. The owner was an old friend of mine and we also worked together. He bought Merit from the originator back in the 90's. He has since passed away and his son is running the business. I spoke with him back in April and he said he was making sights. Here is his email address. grantedward@msn.com. This is the phone number on their website 518-763-3011.

Here is their website. http://meritcorporation.com/orderform.html

Thanks, Rob. I've been watching this thread to see what develops because I'm just about ready for a product like this. I already experimented with electrical tape and a needle but the adjustable aperture would be much better.

A Hadley eye up would suit your needs as well. But they are normally about an inch in diameter. That size is fine for tang sights, but receiver sights often need something smaller.
