Midway struck again...

The proper packaging materials to ship almost anything are readily available. I get a lot of stuff from ULine but there are a ton of other companies that have the right stuff. Getting people to use it properly is - well - a human and not technical issue...
You are absolutely right. The issue isn't the availability of the packaging materials but rather the cost of the materials AND the expense of paying someone to take the time to do it right. They don’t want the package packed properly; they want the package out the door.

I have a feeling the cost of packaging has gone through the roof lately and I know for a fact that the labor market is wild at the moment. Hard to find employees bc there are so many jobs right now, I heard someone mention the other day that they couldn’t retain employees bc folks knew they could walk out at lunch and have another job by 5pm

it isn't always the packager.
i spent some time working Christmas shipping for UPS.
i can still drop kick a 4-6 Lb package through a 2' tall opening from 30' away without even warming up.

:D

All jokes aside, I expect packages to be handled roughly. When you hand a package over to a shipper, you have to assume it will have a hard journey.

I've been on the floor at FedEx, UPS, and USPS facilities and those areas are only a tiny segment of those operations. I have been impressed with the work they do. The volume of items alone is staggering.
Ultimately, most of the burden rests with the person packaging the item before it is handed over to the shipper.

Definitely unfortunate to hear, if we’re being honest I really prefer my local shop if they have what I need. They are a family buisness so they definitely charge a couple dollars more than you can find online but I will always support local first. They have managed to stay stocked with powder too, grabbed AA9 and Power Pistol yesterday for my new 10mm
OOH...

Tell more!! :p;):D

Haha it’s a Dan Wesson Bruin, unfortunately I’m in Maryland so 7 day waiting period so I’ll be able to pick her up on Friday!!! I got a couple NOE molds to start with, the 402-170-TC and I actually found a removable guide version of the same mold. I plan on getting a heavier mold too but I figured that the NOE will be an excellent mold to get me shooting!!! Planning on using the PP for mid range loads and the AA9 for heavy hitters. I DID absolutely watch your video with that slick sided Arsenal bullet, interesting results with the Power Pistol
OOH...

Tell more!! :p;):D

I was done with Midway after ordering a group of items that were all "in stock". Then getting only one of 4 others in the first package, the others dribbling in one item at a time and being charged shipping for each individual package. BS. I called and wrote, letting them know that their predatory shipping policies cost them a customer. I never got a reply and they never got another order from me.

Same shipping BS with me not long after the daughters took over. I ordered 2 safe heaters from them. They wanted to put each in a separate medium flat-rate box and charge a shipping charge for each. Shipping on each box was nearly the cost of the item effectively doubling cost of the order. I wrote and asked why two boxes/charges when 10 of them could fit into one box? They replied cause it's policy. I replied then my policy is to cancel the order and never buy from Midway again. Never heard back from them so I can only assume they didn't care.

Absolutely. What I do is imagine two things: will it survive if I heave it as far as I can across the driveway onto concrete? Will it survive if I jump up and down on it 20 times? If so, good to go.

Thanks CW, that’s what I’ve been seeing in my limited research. My 10mm StarLine brass is showing up here tomorrow, I back ordered 500 on StarLines website and they shipped it to me in less than a week. I’m planning on casting and loading on Friday so I can shoot Saturday. I’ll have the actual gun on Friday so I’ll be able to do function and plunk tests before I ever hit the range

Enjoy!!

Another mold thats just a awesome work horse is the LEE 401-175 TC.

I shot some in that video you watched. In a 6cav you can produce copious amounts of good bullets quickly. They have a generous meplat. They shoot very well for me in my 40's and 10's.

They’re currently at a 6 week wait but it will be an awesome surprise whenever it DOES arrive
