My initial thoughts were to use the 150 gr. bullets in 38 Special and 357 Magnums.
Today, I thought......Umm, this thing might be a good heavy bullet for my Ruger 9mm Carbine.
I looked up data, found 3.2 grs. of Unique ( a conservative load....4.0 grs. of Unique is max. ) with a 147 gr. cast.
Since my bullet weighs 150 grs., I though.....OK, 3 gr. difference, close enough, let's load a few.
For right now, I'm using the 3.2 grs. of Unique load.
My bullets are sized .3575 "
My OAL is 1.075" with this bullet and it feeds VERY smoothly.
Now to get to the range and test these loads. BTW, my Smith Mod. 59, 9mm chambers these rounds smooth as silk.

I have the 2 crimp groove heavier version. Shoots great in anything I have tried it in.

You should get good expansion with that, given enough velocity. And soft alloy.

Here is my 200 Gr MP RN, pentaHP into very saturated phone books.

8653

Penetration in wet phone books is right at half of penetration in ballistic gelatin, based on
a number fo commercial JHPs that I have tested and which have been tested in gel.

Never thought to try this one in 9mm..

Might be a dandy it sure looks good loaded in those cases may need to give that one a whirl.

I bought a five cavity of this Arsenal mold to play around with in a couple pistols and my wife's Ruger PC9
Only tried one load so far with Universal. I need to cast up more and try some other powders.

Does the lack of lube grooves make it any easier to cast? Any issues thus far when firing due to lack of grooves?

I have very limited use with this mold thus far. I have only cast with it once. Once the mold was up to temperature the bullets fell out very nicely. They seem to fire just fine but we were only using them out in the desert rolling beer cans and what not. No real testing involved.

The slick sided molds seem to be all the rage with the die hard PC crowd. Shrug.
This is my first and only one. I need to cast up a few hundred and really run it through it’s paces with the carbine and the two or three handguns.

I can see the advantage of casting a slick side mold. But by not having gruves you limit the ways you can process the bullet.

Very true Kevin. I thought I’d roll the dice on one and see how it went. Jury is still out. :)

I have an mp 9-130 solid in al with slick sides. It is top 2 for bullet that simply jump out of the mold. Pure joy to use. I run them by the 5k & tumble lube works fine @8bhn or above.
