MP 30 cal. Mould

Looks like one of Bobby's designs. A lot of his are like that on purpose, they don't seem like they'd shoot but then they do. He would tell you to use a very non-viscuous lube to fill up that big groove and the intentional large space above the gas check.

I figured it was one of his too.
that thin rear drive band thing kills me though, it just makes me wince a bit to see it.

Ben Was there a problem keeping the mold hot enough for quality bullets? What was your pot temperature?
I have the MP 150 gr. 8 cavity. An i have trouble with wrinkles from a cool mold. I guess i have to preheat to a higher temperature. An cast as quick as safety allows.

That really looks like the 32 Sixgun Sledgehammer that Sixshot, 2 Dogs and the rest of the .327 addicts favor. I haven't seen that one for ages! This is the first one I've seen in an 8 cav!

I took my T/C Venture 30-06 to the range today.
I shot the 1st 5 shot group at 50 yards with this bullet.
The load was 8.8 grs. of American Select.
A Rem 2 1/2 Large Pistol Primer.
The cast bullets were sized .311 and all had my .014" Amerimax aluminum gas checks, the rounds were lightly engraving into the rifling when the bolt was closed.
5 rds @ 50 yards.

I had about 25 more rounds with the same load.
My grandson shot them ( in a pretty tight group I might say ) at 50 yards.

Back to the loading bench for more experimentation.
This 8 cav. mould can certainly keep you in a good supply of .30 cal. cast bullets.

Here is the description of the bullet :

Dated 2018
Designed by 45 2.1, its a VERY proven design. Miha already has the cherry for this one, just need buyers! This is a Boolit that is the go to Boolit for heavy duty 32 magnum loads, 32-20's and the new 327 Federal. Shows utility in the 300BO, 30-30, 30 Carbine and 308 and 30-06 Plinkers (Imagine running this behind 13-14 grains of Red Dot in 308)
Weights are lubed and gas checked, ready to load. 140 gr. solid, 135 gr. hollow point, 0.400" meplat to crimp groove, 0.314" as cast diameter.

On a side note Ben does tend to keep his misses close together. I miss far wider than Ben.

I have noticed there tends to be only one or two holes in the target, even when he claims he fired five shots. They typically look like my 1-shot groups :)

If Bens missing the target, he sure is missing it small!

I think that might be the one sixshot is using, next time I see him at the café I will ask him [if I remember]
I would bet he is powder coating it and/or using it for grouse hunting.
