I decided I better buy this one.
T/C Venture, 30-06 bolt action rifle.
New in the box, unfired.
Regular $479.00
Sale $379.00
Factory rebate of $75.00
That puts the rifle at $304.00
Too tempting ! !
This one has the " 5 R Rifling ".
Pillar bedded, front and rear.
Free Floated barrel.
A very nice, clean, crisp, adjustable trigger.

I've read good reviews, we'll see ? ? ?

watch that the stock doesn't rub the barrel.
I think they actually put some effort into these rifles.

You mean you haven’t shot it yet? You can’t do that to us Ben! I bet it will shoot.

Very helpful & always sharing...yep you deserve it, Ben. Hopefully it will work the way you normally get'em to.

Great deal on that rifle. Sounds like it has every chance to shoot right out of the box the way they put them together from the factory.

If those "flex pads" on the sides of the forearm and pistol grip area work the same as on my encore, they seem to absorb a lot of "felt" recoil, along with providing a good grip in wet weather.

It will be interesting to hear how the 5r rifling does with cast bullets....i've been curious about that.

I like the receiver design, looks extremely stiff. Is that a floating bolt head?

Really heavy stamping on the barrel, wonder if there might be some constriction in the interior of the barrel?

the top T/C looks lazer etched, the sides maybe are roll stamped.

a floating bolt head is what savage uses.
the back lugs do all the lock up but the front portion is able to move around just a bit to follow the cartridge.
this lets everything settle into better contact and alignment.
it's kind of like using LEE reloading equipment it slops around enough to somehow find the center by using the cartridge and chamber as a guide.

.30-06. why "everybody knows" that 6.5 Creedmore or 7mm Whizbang are way, way better and
not so old fashioned. :D:D:p:p:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Jiust kidding, of course. One of the best lines I ever heard is "A .30-06 is never the wrong answer."

I like a lot of cartridges, have a lot of them, but the '06 is a real good one, and really, there is
very little that it can't do, esp with modern powders and bullets bringing the old girl up to even
higher levels of capability.

Nice looking rifle, that 5R rifling is supposed to be good. Will look forward to your report.

Here’s a good video of what the cheaper tc compass can do with jacketed bullets. I was really surprised.
If you want skip towards the end to see the groups.

Well, you can do a lot with Berger bullets. I think the average handloader tends to underestimate the effect bullet quality has on group dispersion.

I know a lot of them are surprised when they get told barrel and bullet are the two most important considerations for accuracy.
everything else are just support services..
